It's still a big gamble that society is going to grow more tolerant of visible modifications, especially any that serve the public. I work for a municipality and I can safely say none of the people who work there have any visible tattoos or piercings (minus typical earings for the ladies), and the majority of the contractors we hire are thr same way, as well as the services and stores we frequent for parts and equipment. It's like that most anywhere, and it's human nature. People want to deal with others who subscribe to social norms because it conveys a level of comfort and professionalism. You would probably prefer a doctor with a clean cut appearance verses the one with the face tattoo and devil horn subdermals, for instance. It's human nature that people rather associate with and trust people who look like us, as sad and often terrible as that often is. You can't say that most professions are filled by primarily clean cut people, is what I'm saying. That's not going to change anytime soon.
