Kai nodded as Runali came out form the tavern, pushing himself off the wall he was leaning against, he stretched for a moment and then followed his captain back to where they had moored the ship. He frowned slightly as she stated that he didn’t need to wait. “Of course I know you’re more than capable of defending yourself captain.” He stated as he followed her, his coat swishing slightly from side to side. “But you never know, he might have had a dozen crewmates in that place. I was simply there to even the odds in case things got out of hand.” He continued as he looked around. Keelson smirked slightly when he saw the small pouches of coin that Runali had ‘Appropriated’ from some of the men in the tavern. “If I may be so bold captain, I don’t advise inviting your new ‘friends’ to dinner.” He said as he grinned to himself imagining the scenario “You know how much Mr. Fischer hates cooking for unexpected guests.” He added as he grinned. In truth, he had no idea how Noland would react to them bringing several armed strangers to the dinner table. Kai made a mental note to figure that out at some point or other. Kai reflected that during their time on this island he hadn’t bought a single thing. He wasn’t sure if that made him better at saving money than the others or not. He knew he had a little more money than the rest of them saved up. Although this made sense considering that out of everyone in this crew, he was the only ex-captain among them, he knew how this game was played. He thought a lot about the rest of the crew on their way back, plenty of sharpshooters, but not very many skilled swordsmen. Among them, Noland was the only one who Kai had taken an immediate liking to as the boy’s culinary skills were top notch. That alone was enough to make him stand out in Kai’s eyes. The others, they had yet to prove their mettle to him, but he’d save his final judgment of them until then.
