Faction Name: The Ordered Governments of Elok (O.G.E) Faction Type: Technocratic Tribal Federation Species: Elok - Standing at 6’5” on average, the Elok are a curious race, which have many features shared with most bipedal species. There are three major differences. however: A highly interconnected and complex maze of vocal cords and resonance chambers that allow for an astonishing array of clicks, whistles and cries that echo and reverberate through the air (making their language near impossible to lear or even attempt to mimic), a shunt based interconnected organ structure (opposed to highly specialized organ systems) and extended brain lobes into their frills and spines on the backs of their heads and necks, allowing for an unnatural situational awareness due to heightened sensory processing. They have digitigrade lower limbs, stubbed vestigial tails and are sleek and slim, with tanned to brown to whitish fur. They have large, dark eyes with poor eyesight and three sets of large, pointed ears for stereoscopic hearing. Scale and Territory: Advanced Interstellar. They have no home world to speak of, and have established only two colonies, due to limited resources and unwillingness to expand after the disastrous Optera incident. Instead, they live their lives mostly in space, aboard massive life ships, in various un-colonized areas of space.
Due to the sudden evacuation of their home world, martial law has largely been enforced as a result of the need to survive with next to no resources. As such, they are a resourceful and cunning species, quite capable tinkerers and adept at reverse engineering salvaged machinery. The Elok are mostly peaceful, and have built their new society around the last great tribes of Topka, Miluf’Tseu, Haras’Dain and Fwinzondi. Each tribe controls a certain aspect of the Fleets, such as salvaging and mineral gathering or military offensives. Elok are nomadic, and do not wish to remain in one place for too long, and enjoy co-operating with most other races. Elok leadership is largely matriarchal, with the females often leading fleets and in charge of important affairs.

Before the loss of their home world Tyo’Pa, the Elok were a highly technologically advanced species, having developed the FTL Tunneler and several other crucial space faring technologies. With these advances, the Elok had established several colonies, including the biological research station on Optera 4. It was here that the greatest threat to Elok kind arose, The Raw Materials and Compounds Assimilator. Originally designed as a bio-organic large scale materials fabricator, the experimental Assimilator somehow went haywire, and began to absorb and repurpose all matter (inorganic and organic) it came into contact with. Devouring everything around it, it quickly created hybrid synthetic/biological monstrosities to expand off world, and spread to the other colonies. This enemy had one crucial advantage over the Elok: It only had to make contact with their ships, and it became unstoppable. After thirty years of losses and failed attempts at containment, the Elok found their home world over run, and faced a harsh reality: Force their home star into super nova, sterilizing and destroying their colonies and home world, or risk the Assimilator spreading to other planets and across the galaxy. And with great sorrow and despair, the remaining clean Elok ships abandoned their world, as it was consumed in cosmic radiation and vaporized to dust. With the Assimilator threat eliminated, the ships were forced into martial law, to help prevent starvation and maintain coherence among the various tribal leaders. It was this emergency council that founded the Ordered Governments of Elok, which continue to be their people’s best chance at survival and prosperity, no matter the gulf between them.

Before the evacuation of Tyo’Pa, the Elok were highly advanced, and masters of both quantum energy creation and manipulation, as well as advanced polymer synthesis and genetic manipulation, as well as the ability to tamper and tinker with the very fusion reactions of stars and other celestial super structures. Much of this knowledge has been lost in the 2000 years since the death of their home planet, but some of it still survives in the Miluf’Tseu Archive Fleet. FTL Tunneler – An unusual solution to the problem of light speed travel, the FTL Tunneler uses the refractive properties of large celestial bodies (such as gas giants) to create a dense hyper static photon veil, which creates a rip in space time. This rip enters hyperspace, which is then used to travel to, theoretically, any point in the universe. There are, however, some major drawbacks to this design: 1: To activate, the Tunneler requires a large surface to ‘mirror’ the ship against (anything smaller than a planet’s atmosphere will not be sufficient to create the hyper energetics needed to create a mass entropy field). 2: All ships entering this veil must divert ALL energy to shields, to prevent vaporization. 3: The coordinates must be known, or the ships fail safes will activate, preventing travel. This restricts movement to within the galaxy, for the foreseeable future. Wireless Thermal Beam Transfer – These methods of energy transfer allow for a single reactor ship or many smaller ships to power and overclock an entire fleet’s or individual ship’s weapon systems, shields or engines. While individual ships are quite weak, a networked fleet can present quite a formidable force, firing a single beam of terrifying destructive power. This advance was coined as a solution to the limited number of ships possessed by the Elok, as a way to remain competitive with the other factions.

The Elok lack numbers in their military and naval forces, but more for make up for this with specialized units and fleets, that maximize the use of the WTBT energy system. These systems include: “Kur’Stal” Lifeship - The Kur’Stal is often at the heart of any fleet, protected by all other ships, and for good reason: Up to 80% of the population dwells there, and are flown out to areas of the fleet where personnel are needed. Often, crippling or destroying the Kur’Stal will lead to a full retreat from the rest of the fleet. This ship also acts as a short range reactor ship in times of danger. “Guyoi” Heavy Cruiser - Basically a huge gun in space, the Guyoi is lightly armed in normal engagements, but can be overclocked by adjacent ships to activate the Neutrino Deterioration Main Cannon, a devastating particle projection weapon that can be used effectively as heavy assault or capital ship killers, when gathered in small groups. “Tri’pol” Shield Frigate – Tri’Pols are a support class of ship, which can be networked to produce a large scale energy shield around friendly ships, at the cost of the Frigate’s own defenses. To compensate, the frigate is small and extremely maneuverable, a difficult target to hit. “Arids” Destroyer – One of the few Elok ships that cannot be networked at all, the Arids is a standard destroyer, firing high density plasma charges at enemy vessels and covering more soft, vulnerable targets. “Soklo’Pisa” Fighter –A standard fighter/bomber used by Elok forces. “Fugyt’Nasa” Champion Battle Suit – Only 80 of these are in service, due to their extremely high manufacturing costs and expertise requirements, and are flown by only the highest ranking and expert Elok pilots. These suits are nothing special individually, but when networked with a fleet, are quite devastating opponents, with enough firepower to cripple or even destroy anything cruiser class or lower. There weapons, however, are designed to engage the Assimilator, should it ever be encountered again, and as such, are rarely seen in battle. In addition, there are standard frigates and cruisers for civilian use, as well as standard assault frigates for light offensives. Ground forces are few, with less of an emphasis on large scale tank and mass troop warfare. Instead, the Elok employ highly specialized inter-species strike teams, occasionally with vehicle support, to eliminate targets of opportunity or assassinate enemy leaders. These teams are some of the best trained in the galaxy, with cutting edge technology that allow for such things as active camo or extreme demolition.
