Babylon. That was the name of the massive ship that moved into orbit around Planet U54 73, named by the Great Register Mathew had deigned to set up to assign names to all planets he encountered. The ship was named after the ancient Tower of Babylon, which supposedly was the fruit of the labor of every civilization of Earth. When all men came together, they could achieve works that made even God jealous, and that was what the ship would represent. It would be the fruit of all the multiverse's labor, the realization of the greatest dream of sentient life. Mathew would bring peace. The planet below was one of the many life-bearing planets in this galaxy. They seemed quite common in this universe, every galax hosted about ten planets capable of sustaining life. Of those, many had already been conquered, and added to the Imperium. He had met a few minor Gods, and they had been a bit harder to deal with, but once their pride had been broken, they, too, bowed before the throne. This world, U54 73, was but one of many to fall before his armies, and soon he would move on to the next planet to conquer. The inhabitants of the worlds were primitive, wielding nothing more complex than a hand axe. however they had a group of relatively powerful Spirits who guarded the planet, and destroying them was quite hard. -------------------- A Combat Drone stomped through the great forest, massive metal feet crushing through the undergrowth. Around it rose great ancient trees, over a hundred meters tall, their lower trunks having transformed to stone with age. And thus, through this forest of stone trees the drone arm moved. Armies of undead were crushed underfoot, their primitive weapons never even touching the armored nano-steel bodies of the machines of war that came to reign destruction upon their homes. A bolt of lightning struck down from above, another attempt from the local spirits to destroy the intruding forces, but the nano-steel simply conducted the electricity straight into the ground without enduring any damage to it's systems. A warhead was fired, speeding through the air before exploding violently as it reached the target. A large stone temple was engulfed in flames, and with it, the patron deity that had been honored there lost it's power. Soon no Gods would remain to protect this world.
