The calm before the storm The world called Ascindus is great and colorful world filled with all sorts of wonders and oddities be it natural or otherwise. From chilly expansive mountain ranges, verdant forests and jungles, roaring oceans, and the varied fauna. Yet all is not well and signs of something of a ruinous and potentially destructive nature are at foot. Monster sightings and attacks have been noted to be increasing and other wildlife appear to be getting skittish. Hushed whispers amongst the Great Council of Magi Scholars in the Country of Kyos speak of some strange magical energy that was previously undetected floating through the aether. Perhaps emanating from a ruins that recently discovered or that it is the result of ley lines being tampered after recent seismic activity of the islands of Dolmos. But that does not matter for it is nothing but hearsay; merely whispers in the wind. In the city of Nele the annual Festival of Cotopa. It is a large and noisy event that gathers travelers from around the world. The city gets all prettied up with lights and decorations while the shops go into overdrive to reap the profits from the people brought in. Your characters are here either for business or pleasure. On the evening befalling the start disaster strikes! Predictably enough you and others form a crew of sorts and head off for a world trotting adventure as you learn things are all not right as it seems. --- The premise in a nutshell This game is the product of some serious jonesing with a bit of nostalgia over JRPG’s and their unique flavor mixed in with more than a little bit of animu. And by that I mean the general style over substance, dorama, occasionally bonkers plots, and clashing elements. That at least for me, made them a nice change of pace from the generic D&Dish type fantasy settings. Much like the Barkley Gaiden game(s) this roleplay will be featuring said elements and poke some fun at them. Unlike the gaiden games that are more parodic in nature, this game will be slightly more serious. Also I’ll be handling the fighting and flashy moves using a pnp system. Didn’t get scared off by that? Well read on to see how this will work out.
Not liking how messy freeform combat gets, wanting to handle flashy moves, and liking the spice elements of chance gives. I decided to use the ruleset of OVA: Open Versatile Anime role-playing game. Fear not it will not be a nightmarish mess of long and byzantine rules that'll make your head hurt. Quite the opposite it's rather on the lightweight side of things and shouldn't be too hard. As for rolling don't worry it'll limited to certain situations and will be the next topic!

In regards to when there will be rolls the first and obvious one will for combat. Outside of combat however, rolls will be used when the chance element seems appropriate. Everything else will be your standard freeform roleplay. Rolls themselves are particularly easy and will be handled using orokos roller. Anyway you start off with two six sided dice or 2d6 and if you got an appropriate skill or bonus you add that many dice. After rolling them you take the highest roll out of the results, but if you manage to repeating numbers you add those up and if that's your highest number you use that.
Rules and other stuff you should know
-I don't particularly care for tacking on extra rules; standard casual and guild rules apply here - With regards to the game world and the lack of details. I don't care for role plays with massive information dumps in like twenty hiders you need to read before play nor can I be bothered to do that. Plus show not tell. The world is made of taped together Schrodinger's cats. - I can be accommodating towards things like races or background things like countries, religions, organizations, etc. If it works it works if not then we can try working on it till it works but it might have to be rejected outright. -When in doubt in regards to rules ask -Jojo was a man who thought he was a loner -Jojo left his home in Tucson, Arizona -For some California grass.
