He weighed the pros and the cons repeatedly, hoping that he'd eventually find that staying in Caelbury wasn't really worth it, even though he knew that it was. It's just… these people were annoying as fuck. He honestly didn't know how long he'd last around them. Everywhere he went, there was a friggin' heirling crying about something stupid. Dad's only getting me a BMW. Oh, my god, should I get Prada or Gucci? Ugh, my custom Santoni boots won't arrive from Italy until tomorrow. Boo-fucking-hoo. Listening to their griping wasn't even the worst part. He was forced to spend a lot of his time around the pretentious Wallenberg son. Jack thought they'd at least round up all the "commoners" and stick them all together, but no. He had to be roomed with one of the few people who knew about his dad's "business." Jack groaned as he reached for the silver phone on his side table, struggling to keep his eyes open. He looked blankly at the screen and had to blink a few times to get his still hazy vision to focus. It was past seven, and he had six new texts and three missed calls from his dad. Fuck me. His dad probably wanted him to scope out the students in the assembly. With a sigh, he opened his messages and scrolled through the new ones.
Mon, 4:20 AM that Wallenberg kid shouldn't be a problem. 4:21 just don't leave your shit out.
He noticed the time and frowned. That was in response to the text he sent Sunday afternoon, after learning of his roommate's identity. If his dad was responding in weirdass hours, that usually meant he was all caught up in writing another story. It always worried him when his dad got like that. He'd just sit in front of his computer, writing and editing all day long, and forget to do anything else. This was the first time he wouldn't be able to check up on him, to force him to eat and take a break once in a while, and he wondered how that would affect him.
6:37 i'll call you later so I can teach you to encrypt your phone 7:03 fuck, are you still sleeping??? 7:31 go to that damn opening shit. 7:31 fuck, jack.
He groaned again but typed up a quick reply anyway: go eat something and go to sleep. I'm going. Well, not exactly that second, but his dad doesn't have to know. Jack took his time showering and getting ready, stretching his morning routine as long as he can. By the time he finished, the bell that signified the assembly's end rang, so he made his way to his first class instead. Or, that was his plan. It would've helped if he knew where he was going. "Oh, shit." Jack grabbed a crumpled piece of paper from the side pocket of his backpack and hastily unfurled it. He skimmed over the names and list of subjects, taking note only of the room the class was held in, and made his way there. It wasn't like he really cared about going to classes. As far as he was concerned, the only reason he was in Caelbury was to bring it down. He's only going to class to not look suspicious until that happened. Didn't really matter what class it was or who taught it. Well, that's what he thought at first. But then he went to his classroom and saw a quick glimpse of his homeroom teacher. Jack bolted out of the room before anyone could notice. Of course, it wasn't enough that his roommate was one of their few victims in the know (they usually do a pretty decent job staying anonymous, but even they couldn't completely hide from the Wallenberg's expensive PI). His fucking homeroom teacher had to be Pierce, of all people. Since when did he become a teacher anyway?! Whipping out his phone, Jack sent out a hastily typed text. fcuk pirce is here
