Name: Kesik Bal'uim Race: Batarian Gender: Male Age: 31 Class: Infiltrator Appearance: Kesik stands 5'6" with a small build and an unimposing stature, first glance would describe him as "scruffy", even for a Batarian. His skin retains a light teal color almost uniformly, but does get slightly pale under the arms and on the chest with the occasional stripe of brown. The clothing and equipment Kesek wears is all plain, earth-tones and shades of grey, usually in poor condition. He is indistinguishable in a crowd (of Batarians) and would not come off as a threatening person if you did not know him. Kesik's facial ridge is a light teal that becomes slightly darker atop the head, then lighter again near the back of the neck. Thin, dark-brown lines occasionally cross parts of his face and chin, and his temple pigmentation is a black and light-brown stripe pattern. His ears are long and thin, adhering very close to his head and his left-upper eyelid will blink independently from the other three. He is not the kind of person to wear a rough expression and will usually have a friendly or honest look about him, however true that look may or may not be. Background: Kesik was an accident,an embarrassment. His father was a distinguished political leader who payed for a night with his mother, a lower caste woman. When the resulting son was born, Kesik's father did everything in his power to bury away the slight to his name. His mother was forced to move to a large urban area in a neighboring nation, and this is where Kesik would be raised. Life was never easy, his mother hardly made enough for one, let alone a family, and the young boy found himself in and out of educational systems without pattern. The allure for crime and drugs was all too attractive, and soon Kesik found himself running with notorious gangs, working as a scout and a delivery boy. However, his mother did try to turn him into a productive person. She would regularly put herself into abusive relationships to give Kesik a strong male role model. It would eventually pay off when the two saved up enough money to move to a more rural area and work on a ship yard. The work was little better than what the slaves were exposed to, but the pay was good and it provided a safe place to live. This sudden stability in his life allowed Kesik to attend school regularly, where his young and troubled mind was exposed to the propaganda machine of the Batarian Hegemony, Kesik would rise in his teachings, learning much about the history of the many Batarian nations and cultures, as well as the slanderous ways of the aliens beyond the Hegemony. Despite his late start, Kesik was able to graduate early and quickly signed up for service in the External Forces (BEF). It was during this time that the Hegemony had closed down their embassies in the Citadel at long last and turned to become an inward-looking state. The swell of national pride and hatred for Humans swept up Kessik and many of his peers as they completed their training. At the end that grueling experience, Kisik became attached to a scout unit, mostly for deployment to backwater slaver colonies for hunting and individual hit missions. His 6 years of military service exposed Kesik to the brutal truths of the Batarian Hegemony, the flaws of the caste system, and the utter weakness of the Batarian people. He returned to his mother a changed man, no longer the zealous youth bristling with pride for his people. He would remain with her for a few years, working simple labor as she contracted a lung disease and her medical condition slowly deteriorated. He would spend his free time contemplating life, trying to understand the atrocities he saw, placing some blame on the upper castes, but mostly on the hedonistic aliens that surrounded their corner of the galaxy. He would finally be convinced by his mother to sign with an independent shipping company, to get back into the world and try to make the world a better place. This ship was boarded by a local pirate clan on its second voyage. Proving his skills with a rifle by defending the main corridor through the attack, Kesik was offered to be spared if he joined with the pirate crew. He agreed. This line of duty was far different from his military service, more brutal, yes, but it seemed more justified. The pirates would normally attack alien colonies and ships, and would receive payment through Hegemony contacts. Rather than gamble or waste his money away, most of Kesik's pay went back to Khar'san to provide medical and domestic assistance to his deteriorating mother. Everything came to a head in 2176, Kesik, now a distinguished member of a pirate crew personally led one of the many ground assaults attacking political buildings in Illyria City, Elysium during the Skyllian Blitz. While Kesik and his crew were able to hold off the Alliance counter-strikes on his position, they ultimately lost orbital support as the pirate fleet was decimated over Elysium. Kesik and a few other experienced pirates were able to round up a large force and push an attack on a shipping center, commandeering a few human cargo craft and making a run through the Alliance blockade. By using civilian hostages at Kesik's recommendation, they were assured safe passage and made for the Nemean Abyss where they cut their losses and caught their breath. Kesik was recommended as a leader for the pirate gang that formed out of the survivors of that flight, but Kesik turned the offer down. He did not know anything about leading, nor did he know anything about how to operate a ship, he also wanted to simply rest. Soon after his comrades left the Abyss, Kesik found that he was falsely identified as one of the top figureheads of the Skylian Blitz. and a large bounty was placed on his head. With help from the advanced omnitool he had recovered from the cargo freighter during his flight from Elysium, Kesik became a shadow. Now on his own, Kesik started to truly believe that he could make the world a better place for his people, but he would have to start here in the Abyss far from the Hegemony. Kesik still stays in contact with his money, and whatever money he makes through jobs or less noble means, most of the money finds its way back to his home. He strikes at those who he sees as evil, but humans will always be a priority. Pressure from Siame Industries and the recent increase of his bounty have focused his sights on Miss Gaela, and Kesik has recently traveled to Cartagena Station seeking a potential path to disrupt her plans for the Abyss, and his people. Weapons: -Kishock Harpoon Rifle --Hardly distinguishable from a default rifle, this Kishock has been stripped of most electronics and systems such as anti-theft, omnitool sync, and sight-assist software. The composite stock and fame has been removed and replaced with a simple black cloth tightly covering the metal frame and barrel. The factory scope has been replaced with a high-end commercial hunting sight. The weapon is still a single-shot and it's heat capacity is possibly worse considering the lack of support systems, but a custom bolt gives the rifle unrivaled velocity and striking power. Kesik carries a lengthy suppressor barrel that was juryrigged to work with the Kishock. -Flash-bang/smoke grenades Equipment: -Batarian State Arms Partisan Light Armor --Kesik still has his old Hegemony armor, although it has been stripped down and weathered over the years. His distaste fro wearing armor means that his Partisan set is usually worn under loose clothing. The armor's signature pauldrons have been removed as well as portions of the chest and back, any electronics in the armor have been removed, minus a small power supply for the omnitool -Ariake Technologies Logic Arrest Omnitool --Possibly Kesik's most treasured item, he found it shortly after his incident on Elysium within a crate of looted supplies. An advanced tool to begin with, it had been heavily modded and was equipped with stores of additional programs, most of which is highly illegal in alliance space. Using this device, Kesik was able to alter his fighting style completely, but he is still learning the ins-and-outs of the device, not fully sure of what it is capable of. Talents: -Damping --Using his omnitool, Kesik is able to shut down security systems and paralyze mobile targets by locking up their armor or wheels. -Electronics --Repair and bypass software are equipped with the omnitool, while this is a subject Kesek is not fully versed in, he is currently able to preform most basic and medium skills in this field. -Fitness --Military training has given Kesik the stamina and expertise to survive most encounters, and granted a lightning-quick running speed. -Hacking --Another feature of the omnitool, the hacking software in the device allows the user to assume temporary control over systems as well as access various devices remotely. -Sniper Rifles --Being a marksman in past, Kesik has since honed his skills completely with a long-range weapon. Kesek is one of the most accomplished snipers in the Abyss, he only takes one shot and moves on, that kind of confidence is not bred from failure Powers: -AI Hacking --The omnitools top line hacking suite allows for remote access to the control files for most synthetic targets. Assuming it is not smothered in firewalls or a self-aware construct, Kesik can probably get through to it eventually. -Flashbang Grenade --An assortment of sense-impairing explosives, most work to fry optical and audio sensors. These grenade have a 100% effect against unprotected targets, with varried success with synthetic targets. -Overload --One of the omnitools offensive capabilities, connecting through the Kishock's scope to lock onto specific targets. Kesik uses this ability to overload shields, overheat weapons, and short-circuit electronics. -Smoke Screen --A varied array of smoke grenades and powders used to obscure vision and provide cover, with one small marking grenade for extreme cases.
