He is otherwise a typical green Salarian, with his only identifying marks being two vivid green diagonal stripes above each eye. Background: Jaerdi hatched on the Salarian colony world of Rannadril into clan Tal. His first few years were largely inconsequential. His genetic analysis showed him to have distinctly average, even poor, genes, and while he was unlikely to develop any illness or disability, his genes ensured that other Salarians had very low expectations of him and that he would never be accepted for a breeding contract later in life. His first decade was spent constantly being reminded of his genetic inferiority. For the first few years of his schooling life he tried to prove the accusations of his relative uselessness to Salarian society wrong, but after a long enough time of being told the same thing no matter what he did, he stopped caring. In the second half of his first decade, he coasted through his schooling, watching as the ‘genetically superior’ Salarians began being headhunted by more specialised governmental science projects or corporate entities seeking new talent. Of the choices open to him with his results and genetics, Jaerdi balked at many of them. A laborers life was not one he thought he could stand, and so instead he resigned himself to serving in the Salarian armed forces. Though he knew he could never get into the illustrious STG without some truly heroic and amazing feat, the Salarian military was nonetheless accepting, always needing new infantry that would serve no higher purpose in the Union. Jaerdi’s eleventh year was spent training in Salarian infantry tactics and the use of a variety of standard issue Salarian weapons and tech. The Salarian military, unlike those of other races, expects every soldier to be capable of a variety of omni-tool manipulations and comprehension of combat tech often limited to the engineers of other races. They also had little room for the discrimination Jaerdi had faced as a civilian, as the Unions armed forces had to be ready to win wars with but a single battle. Their advantage was technology, and that advantage was only as good as their troops capacity to wield it. Because of these factors, Jaerdi took to the military training far better than anything else ever before, finally free of the constant jeering and low expectations. Though the Unions military sees fewer battles than others in the galaxy, Jaerdi acquitted himself nicely in several pirate raids in the beginning of his twelfth year once he’d gone on active deployment, giving him a taste for battle. He found out in these occasions that he very much enjoyed the thrill of a firefight and the satisfaction of a perfectly executed kill. Had events continued as normal, he might’ve remained in the Union army, but events conspired to restore his original bitterness towards his ‘genetic superiors.’ While on a routine patrol, the ship his squad was stationed on was commandeered by a group of scientists supposedly working under the STG - including one of Jaerdi’s many brothers. Only this brother, Inilon, was the one with the highest genetic rating of the entire clutch. Inilon wasted no time in reminding Jaerdi of the fact once he discovered his presence on the ship, and within days Jaerdi was filled with all the bitterness and hate of his youth. Only this time, he had none of the apathy that had accompanied it. Several days into the otherwise uneventful journey, Jaerdi was discreetly contacted by an unknown party that offered him credits to kill several members of the research team, Inilon included. To this day he doesn’t know who they were or how they found out he would be likely to accept their offer, but they did, and feeling as he did at the time, he did accept. Unwilling to throw his life away for the matter, Jaerdi spent a day planning out the hit to ensure he survived it. He carried it out in the few hours in the night when much of the Salarian crew were asleep, gunning down the targets with his submachine gun before making his way to the ships shuttle. Despite his best planning, his high emotions at the time nearly got him caught and killed however, with him barely escaping death at the end of the ships main mass accelerator cannon. His actions, he knew, meant that he would be dishonorably discharged and probably spend the rest of his life in prison, if they didn’t just kill him while they were ‘capturing’ him. He had no choice but to leave and run from the Salarian military, staying out of his peoples space for a while. Despite the loss of his career, Jaerdi was elated as he flew away. After all, his tormentors were now lying face down in a pool of their own genetically superior green blood. It wasn’t until after he’d left Salarian space that he felt any sort of remorse for killing the other scientists, who he had no real problems with. But Salarians often work through their emotions quickly, and in this case Jaerdi did exactly that, helped along by his sudden and significant increase in wealth. He reasoned that feeling bad about it was pointless - after all, the dead were dead and him having feelings about it wouldn’t change that. Not only that, but he was now in need of a job. The money for the hit was good but nothing to retire on. It didn’t take him long to come to the conclusion that he should continue what he had started. After all, he did enjoy the planning, the killing and of course the money. Taking the lesson he learned during his first hit - emotional entanglement causes complications - he decided not to invest himself in any job for any reason beyond the money. And so, on his fourteenth year, he began his new career as a hitman, working for money and only money. At this point, a job was a job, and money was money, regardless of any moral obligations some might foolishly hold against it. He mostly started out in his new career with the ‘repositioning’ of skycars and small spacecraft, but it wasn’t long before he began to take the much higher paying jobs that involved killing specific targets. To avoid getting caught by authorities and other less savoury elements, he began to incorporate various deceptions in his work. Making a hit look like a gang shootout or a random murder wasn’t hard with just a little bit of research and forward thinking. Over the years, his repertoire of techniques has grown, and he has acquired many stories, which he will eagerly relate to anyone in a similar job to him. Jaerdi has even acquired a small reputation, but he has been careful to keep it from growing too much. Its one thing to be sought out for the best jobs because of your reputation, but entirely another to have the council decide that you specifically need to be dealt with. Jaerdi’s job has had surprisingly few setbacks from Siame’s growing power, as many of his jobs are carried out on Citadel worlds or the more populous of Terminus cities, but he has lately noticed that there are fewer people out there offering jobs, and everyone in the criminal community seems even edgier than usual. None of this, however, is why he finds himself on Cartegena station. No, he is here because of his latest job - seek out Tanya Carson and Kosso Irak, and together with them, make sure Siame industries falls post-haste. Normally he would have reservations working with anyone for long, and normally he’d avoid such a colossal task in a contract, but in this case, the pay adds up. And it should, given that he was personally hired by the Krogan business magnate Khel Zhar.
