No? ...Die." --- Age: 17 Magic: Arc of Undeath A lost magic which is remembered by a select few for being nightmarish and revolting. Through both covert and cruel methods, Aedius was able to learn this form of magic. It provides absolute control of the dead, and undeath. It does not involve souls, but does involve bodies of those which are already dead, and in cases where there are no bodies it allows the conjuration of lesser undead such as skeletons. The undead he summons can use magic, but only basic elemental magic is usable. This magic has the added 'side-effect' of rendering the user in an almost deathlike state, where their body parts can be dismembered, but can eventually reform so as long as the targeted body part still exists. This reforming process is sped up if the dismembered limb is placed directly where the cut was made, and pain is still felt from injuries sustained. Completely destroying his torso and head is enough to prevent this from happening. Witnessing his survival with these injuries and his ability to reform is obviously disturbing, so he purposefully beheads himself to scare people who have no idea what his magic does. He has in fact beheaded himself enough times to the point where it does not hurt as much as cutting off other body parts. The magic's strength comes from the fact that undead are easy to re-summon, and the magic itself is rather versatile when regarding said undead. The most logical point of action would be to target Aedius, taking his head - as he tends to fight alongside his summons.
Raise Dead The most basic spell in Aedius' arsenal - but one of the most versatile. Aedius brings life to a dead corpse, making them a zombie - The power of the undead is proportional to the strength of the person when they were alive. there could be a large amount of weaker zombies which have strength in numbers, or a small group of powerful zombies which Aedius' himself will fight alongside. Summon Dead/Summon Legion When it comes to summoning undead, there are different 'divisions' of undead. Undead of different divisions will not work together, and will fight if they see each other. Hence it is important that they are kept away from one another. The only exception to this is the undead summoned from the Wandering Division, who are mundane and do not have elemental advantages exclusive to them.. They are sometimes paired with other divisions as a result. The divisions are equal in terms of power, but delve into sub-types and variations which come with their own strengths and weaknesses. Summoning the dead takes longer than raising the dead, and these spells should be done in preparation to facing an enemy. Wandering Legion The division with no distinct advantages or weaknesses. Undead summoned from this division are mundane and regular, not inflicting elemental damage on targets, unless they are using magic. In which case their elemental magical power is not improved nor reduced based upon what element they are using to battle with. The Wandering Legion tend to use weapons such as swords, spears and axes - all of which do not have elemental bonuses or effects. The Wandering Legion is the only division which can be paired with other divisions, although the different divisions will not necessarily work together well. Burning Legion The legion of immolation and offence. This division is composed of undead which are constantly burning, yet the flames do not make them perish. This gives them an increased defence against flame-based attacks, but put them at a disadvantage vs. Water. The weapons which the burning legion use inflict burns upon enemies, and deals fire damage. The Burning legion is an offensive division which are used for when fast and aggressive sieges are key. Fire magic used by the undead in this division is much more powerful than if it was used in other divisions. Frozen Legion The legion of frost and defence. The Frozen Legion has undead which are eternally cold. They have increased resistance to ice attacks, and are weak against flame attacks. The undead in this division have high defence, and their attacks and weapons tend to freeze the body parts that they strike. Undead in this division which use Ice magic are empowered, and their attacks become slightly more powerful. There are no fire mages in this division. [s]Shadow/Black/African American Legion[/s] That doesn't exist. Arcane Explosion Due to the nature of this magic, arcane energy is stored within the undead. Aedius can - at any point in time, purge that energy from an undead's body - destroying it. The power of the explosion is also proportionate to the power of the undead itself. Powerful undead results in powerful explosions.
Magic Level: Aedius can be assumed to be powerful, as he holds the title of one of the Ragged Brotherhood's Twin Enforcers , the equivalent of a commander. --- History: 'On a faraway island, lies a great monastery which covets and protects something sacred. House Darkwater. This is their love, and this is their curse.' The House of Darkwater was a family of perfection, mastery and destruction. Each member is to master a specific form of magic within a set period of time This is decided by standing stones in the courtyard, which glow in different colours and intensities to decide what form of magic is to be learned. In order to 'encourage' members to learn faster, many are subjected to a punishment known as Temperament, where the member in question would be sealed inside of a magical prison, forced to sit still and endure a variety of arcane shocks from the feet, all the way to the head for varying amounts of time. Furthermore, failure to successfully master the magic in question would result in exile, regardless of whether the magic was mastered later in life or not. Aedius was a family member in the House of Darkwater. He was tasked with mastery of the Arc of Undeath within a span of three years. He was 10 years old when his training finally began. Aedius understood most of what he learned quite easily, but Aedius himself was slow at performing these spells at an adequate level to be considered mastery, and it was impossible for Aedius to replicate all the spells he read about on the first try. Because of this, Aedius was subjected to Temperament often, rumours claimed that he had been tempered every two months. This continuous Temperament made Aedius much faster when it came to working, but it simply was not fast enough, hence he was constantly being tempered regardless. He was unaware of the consequences of failing to master Arc of Undeath. At 13 years of age, had not yet fully mastered Living Magic, and was thus disowned and exiled, but not before being tempered several more times in a row. This enraged Aedius himself, he had only needed to learn a few more spells for him to be recognized as master by Darkwater standards. But there was never an exception to the standing stones' rule, and thus Aedius was subsequently thrown out of the House of Darkwater, never to be allowed to return, or he would run the risk of being killed. Being exiled at a young age, he now lacked the necessary parental figures to provide guidance, and was now able to do as he pleased. Despite this, he kept his composure and remained calm enough to locate somewhere else to live. Taking a nearby boat provided by House Darkwater, he sailed across the sea until he reached land. He travelled for a long time, reaching Fiore, where he encountered a man dressed in strange, tattered robes. He was the first person who spoke to Aedius since his leave, and Aedius found him to be strange. He revealed himself to be a scout, recruiting people into the Ragged Brotherhood, he said that Aedius would have a place to stay, and resources to use. Aedius did have nothing at the moment, hence all of these things sounded excellent to him. He followed the scout to the Ragged Brotherhood's main base of operations, where it was plain to see that there were not many members at the time, and the clan was extremely close-knit and small. Aedius was introduced to The First, who accepted him as a member with open arms. Not feeling acceptance in a long time, Aedius swore to serve The First, and fulfill his motives and goals. Several years had passed since then, and Aedius had improved his Arc of Undeath magic, and had attained the rank of Twin Enforcer. The Ragged Brotherhood's size had grown to the equivalent of multiple guilds, with Aedius apart of this, apart of a family. A family which planned to bring about a new age of unity. Personality: For the most part, Aedius is dangerous due to his drive and loyalty. He follows the orders of the Ragged Brotherhood, and dislikes it when people get in the way of this. His magic gives him a reason to kill, and Aedius has been merciless like this in the past, killing to further his own powers - even if temporary. He has a callous disregard for people who aren't in the Ragged Brotherhood, and would not go out of his way to help these people, unless they happen to share a love of necromancy as he does - in which case he becomes much nicer towards that person. Oftentimes, he will ask his adversaries "Do you like the undead?" Which is essentially the equivalent of saying "Should I show mercy or not?" Despite these traits, Aedius is extremely calm and laid back when around fellow members of the brotherhood - a direct contrast to how he is when against another mage he does not like. Members of the Ragged Brotherhood tend to like Aedius Team Members: More often that than not, Aedius will travel and team up with his fellow Twin Enforcer, . But will also travel with anyone who is a member of the Ragged Brotherhood; should he have to travel with someone other than an Enforcer. [s]Three[/s] FOUR Strengths: 1. Near immunity to dismemberment. 2. Summoned units. 3. Hand-to-hand combatant 4. He makes jokes on the occasion. Sometimes bad or disgustingly unfunny ones, but they're still jokes. Three Weaknesses: 1. Destroy his head = Destroy Aedius. 2. Focus on him rather than the undead around him. 3. He shows mercy to those who share the same views as he does. Try befriending him. Greatest Love: Nothing. Although he does take a liking to anyone who shares a love of necromancy. Motivation: To fulfill the motives and goals of the Ragged Brotherhood. Additional Details: He has his own unique laugh: S-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s His weapon of choice is a katana, which he was given at a later date. The cursed one is powerful; they have faster reactions, stronger muscles, but in turn, they trade their humanity and sanity for this power. As they sacrifice their power, a mutation may happen. This mutation causes the cursed one to become a monster. Their flesh rots away, their muscles swell, their bones break upon themselves to rebuilt until what is left is a shell of their former self. They become a killing machine, murdering those around them, without any remorse. The bearers of the curse are constantly tormented by another voice. The voice is constantly telling them to sacrifice their humanity for murder. Most of the bearers of the curse die before they reach the age of 8, due to complications. Magic Level: Unknown due to the Ragged Brotherhood being unranked. History: Arkya never knew her parents. All she remembers from her childhood was the orphanage. The orphanage was a strange place. It was in the middle of a forest, so it was generally unpopulated. Arkya had many friends there, but they would constantly be "adopted" by parents. Usually, every week 2 children were adopted. Every night, there were screams that were barely audible. Children were told that it was just in their head, but that was not the case. Arkya was adopted, too. She remembers being brought to a building that was underground, and seeing another girl. The girl was covered in blood and tears while holding an axe, and there was blood all over the floor. Around the walls were adults in masks. Arkya had no idea what was going on, so she looked back to the girl. The girl charged Arkya, and slammed her head with the blunt side of the axe. As soon as Arkya was struck, she fell to the ground, and something within her awakened. Arkya blacked out. When she had awoken, the orphanage, the underground building, and all of the trees around her were destroyed. She had no clue what had happened, so she roamed the forest. A voice kept on haunting her to reduce everything to ashes, but she ignored the voices. A caravan of merchants had spotted her, and she had been taken to the nearest town. After being truly adopted, she had grown until the age of 13, and then she had run away to figure out what happened to the orphanage, and why this voice haunted her. After roaming for 10 years, she had met a group of people known as "The Ragged Brotherhood", and had joined their group. She became known for her ability to fight with knives, even against mages. She fought and fought, while slowly uncovering things about her curse, but she didn't know enough. Personality: Arkya is an adamant, and seasoned fighter. She is quick to anger, and resorts to violence more often than not. She is considered as a realist, but also very cruel. She puts her own agenda above that of teammates, but the rest of the Ragged Brotherhood seems to trust her. Team Members: Generally, she works with other members of the Ragged Brotherhood. Three Strengths: 1. Extremely good at fighting with her two knives. 2. Runs pretty fast. 3. Isn't really affected by temperature. Three Weaknesses: 1. Doesn't have any real magic. 2. Ability to fight well depends on terrain. 3. Not friendly at all. Greatest Love: Fighting, currently Motivation: To learn about her curse.
