The tyrannical ruler of Royeaux. He was once just a Duke in the Royal Court and a Colonel of the Royeaux Army. His ambitions were for a higher station, however, and through subterfuge and the quiet spread of lies and slander, he turned many high ranking members of the army against the royal family. Once he had gathered his supporters, he attacked the Royal Palace at Mont Royeaux and, in a bloody coup, murdered the King and Queen and claimed the throne for himself. Anyone who spoke out against his unjust take over was punished instantly and without mercy and so the people of Royeaux were cowed into accepting him as their King. Dumont, however, continued to see enemies and assassins in every shadow and his growing paranoia has resulted in harsher laws and crueler treatment of the masses. Many believe that Dumont has gone mad.[/hider]

Whether or not this mysterious figure is actually a Knight or not is unknown, never the less, the people of Royeaux have come to call him Le Chevalier Noir, The Black Knight. He first appeared two years ago, a young man clad in black armor who fought back against the King's soldiers as they abused the innocent citizens. And now, as King Dumont's tyrannical actions grow more and more violent, the people begin to whisper of the nameless Black Knight who stands against him and of those who stand with him, flocking to his cause and fighting to depose the Mad King.[/hider]
