For some reason I didn't find New Vegas quite as enjoyable all around as I did three... It all just seemed really bland to me... Gameplay itself was better in comparison... actually having iron sights... all the new weapons... etc, etc. That was all good... but overall it just didn't feel right..... I think I might have found out what bothered me the other day... There is pretty much NOTHING random about NV... everything is scripted. Every event, encounter and so on. There's no random enclave drops while exploring, no UFOs exploding in the sky (After three days of hunting I had finally gotten firelance for the first time >.>) and your actions have little to no impact on the world as you play it. Sure you hear Mr. NV talk about it, but it's not as personal as 3dog was... At least FO3 had random encounters to show you the impact of what you did (vault 101 survivors out in the wastes, the wasteland survival student,) The most randomness that NV gives you is the assassins that come after you... but there isn't even any variety between them, they always have the exact same gear as the last set that came after you and they're just as powerful at level 5 as they are level 20... which of course really fucks you over at level 5 when you're playing on hard difficulty and a legionaire assassin squad decides to hunt your ass down... took me almost 20 grenade launchers to the face to even scratch the one Centurion...
