Yeah, at least I managed a mildly historically significant Mosin from early '42 from just as Izmech was ordered to stop making SVT-40s (evidenced by earlier and more refined milled detents (replaced with stamped detents by summer of '43) and parts from the evacuated Tula plant [matching (not force-matched) serial numbers indicate they were all built for each other, and not from a scrap parts-bin]).Ran into an enfield at a pawn shop, cycled the bolt a few times and didn't like the feel. Closing it on an empty chamber was hard enough, closing it with expanded brass would be downright painful on my fists. Maybe it was just a headspacing issue.Ammunition has finally gotten ridiculous, I remember buying mine largely as a "heavy recoil simulator" to ease into handling 20 gauge 1 oz slugs, since $0.10/rd beats $1/shell any day. So when my stockpile dries up it'll largely become a wall-hanger I can hunt with if I felt like it, but not as a primary.
An enfield bolt should be butter freakin' smooth. If it's not, there is a problem. To be fair, enfields are hard to get in good condition anymore, and I barely scraped mine out, I think. I got lucky.
