Kalinda was wearily trying to sort things out, doing what she could to help in the clean up process, and directing some people to first aid areas, if they needed it. She did whatever she could, and mared some areas that were impossible to get into without risking being hurt, for more professional people to assess and fix up.

She looked up when she heard Michael, and smiled. She was dusty, covered in soot and little bits of debris. "It seems to be going well" She said, taking a moment to stretch out her back, legs and arms. "Quicker then I thought it would"

Michael looke around them, his suit covered in ashes from getting fires out on other buildings, "it's wuicker because JARVIS had the other suits helping out with the work." He looked up at the sky, "just to think we were out numbered and we were able to take down frost at the very least the danger has passed but I still think things will be thrown out way."

He looked at Hannah and Connor, "just to think star spangled had finally got the guys to ask Hannah out it's really about time for that to happen especially when he could've died during the main battle." Michael shook his head to clear him of that memory, he didn't really know what would be thrown at them, but he knew one thing they would be ready for it.

Kalinda nodded, thinking on what else could be out there for them. "I think many things will be thrown our way. We have the ability to protect, and that's what we should do" She said, feeling as if that was probably the most important thing they could do with their abilities, their powers. After all, if they didn't do it who would?

Kalinda followed Michael's gaze, and smiled at Hannah and Connor. "it's a good thing" She said,, "He had to figure it out for himself" She smiled, and shrugged, "I think this is probably the best we can do, for the city. We should see if we can find any more injured and supplies"

Michael nodded at that, "JARVIS have the suits help remove rubble that may be trapping the injured." "Yes sir," Michael looked up at the sky, "I'll scout the perimeter of the city I promise to come back unharmed kali I am true to my word." With that he flew into the sky, he soon got to the outskirts of the city.

Michael was flying around the city, when he saw more ambulances and cop cars come toward the city. He flew down, "we need help with the injured we need to set up a perimeter around the city to make sure it's safe from anymore threats." The medics and cops nodded as they drove into the city Michael started flying toward the middle of the city.

Kalinda sighed, ran a hand through her increasing disheveled hair, and set back to work, continuing to search for any survivors, and injuried. If she came across any dead, she carefully marked the area, and wrote the location down on a piece of paper, for others to give the dead the respect they deserved. It was a hard process, and she was beyond weary even after a few hours.

Yet she knew she had made the right choice, as she directed a gaggle of children to the nearest first aid station, hoping they could find their parents. She was pretty sure by then that she had found all the injured on her section, and she sat down, leaning back, closing her eyes.

Michael had helped with finding what injured he could, though he found more dead than injured. Now he wished he could make frost pay for what he had done, he looke at the kids that were just crying over a dead sibling or parent. He sat down, he just felt dizzy all of a sudden.

He hadn't seen this much pain in a long time last time it was with his father. Like always his dad woke up in middle of the night from the night mate of what he had done years ago to save New York he would see the pain clearly on his face before he hid it again. He took off the helmet and set it next to him.

Kalinda huffed out a breath and began to rise, deciding it was time they all took a break and got some food, some drink and had a little rest. When was the last time they had eaten? For that matter, it had been hours since they had last slept. So, falling into "mother mode" Kalinda went to round the others up. She walked, trying not to fall over as exhaustion seemed to wash over her.

It took her a while, but she eventually found just about everyone, telling them they would eat and rest, before looking for Michael. She asked people if they had seen him flying over, and followed their general direction, until she found him. She yawned as she tried to say "hey, I'm making everyone eat" so that instead it sounded like a whale call. She tried again, succeeding in communicating this time.

Michael looked up, turning to face toward Kalinda. "I think first you need some sleep before we do that kali we all do." He got to his feet, walking over to her. "You need sleep more than any of us kali we can got eat we just need you to get some rest we don't need you falling to the ground asleep while your helping out now can we?"

He lead her to one of the beds they had set up for him in case he got tired. "Just get some rest we'll be fine Connor Hannah Tory and Zach all of us will each and then try to catch some sleep ourselves before we continue helping out with the city."

Kalinda didn't want to sleep, not alone. She shook her head furiously, refusing the lay down. "I don't want to sleep" she kept her voice even, neutral, but she was terrified of the dreams that might plague her sleep. "Don't make me, please" her voice broke, filling with emotion as she said this, and she cursed that weakness.

"I just need some food, maybe some coffee. Then I'll be fine" she hated the fact that she seemed to be begging, and she sighed, looking down. She could have easily said that she wanted to make sure everyone else was okay, but she didn't

Michael sighed, he walked in front of kali. "You need your sleep you are no use to the team if you don't get sleep kali if you want I'll be by your side while you sleep I won't leave you alone I promise, but still you need sleep." His hand was on her shoulder while the other lifted her head to meet his gaze.

"I won't leave you alone while you sleep, I'll be right by you." He smiled a little, "kali I'll be here for you always I won't leave you alone not ever again I promise you that I'll be by your side while you sleep even when your awake. Still you need to catch sleep or you will be little to no use to the team even to me."

Kalinda stubbornly shook her head. "I don't want to sleep. It's bad enough that Everytime I blink, I see you crumpling to the ground, or the injured children, the dead still waiting to be given the respect they deserve. I don't want to dream, don't want to relive it all. " she felt herself shudder at that, and she sighed.

"I know I need to sleep eventually. But I don't want to now" she said after a moment "I just want to finish helping the city. There could still be people trapped...how can I sleep, knowing that?"

Michael shook his head, "kali JARVIS already said he had found the injured there being treated the best they can. The suits are helping repair the city, you can barely stand on your own two feet please kali get some sleep for me for the team. What would your mom say if she saw you like this, please kali you might not want to sleep but I want you to."

He sighed, collapsing to his knees. "Kali I'm begging you to get sleep please." He hands falling to the ground, clenching his hands his gaze didn't leave the ground. "I've already lost enough kali I don't need to lose you too please." He body was shaking, he knew why faces of friends flashed through his mind that he couldn't save.

Kalinda flinched, going to the ground with him when he collapsed to the ground. "My mum would say to do what needed to be done" That seemed like such a heartless statement that she winced. She swallowed, and wrapped her arms around him.

"you're not going to lose me" She said softly, "never" she swallowed, "I'll try and sleep" She said, "But I can only try" She added, not wanting to promise anything, and she hugged him. "I'm sorry. I just want everything to be okay"

She sighed, and leaned back, on one of the sleeping beds, trying not to show that she was scared, that she didn't want to close her eyes.

Michael looked up at her, he sighed in relief. He slowly climbed to his feet, taking off his suit. He laid down next to her, putting his arm around her. "Kali I won't leave you alone while you sleep I promise JARVIS tell the others to get something to eat and get some sleep." "Yes sir," with that the suit he was wearing flew off. Leaving them alone, "just try and get some sleep kali that's all I ask."

Kalinda nodded, letting hersel relax in his arms. But she didn't want to close her eyes, fearful of that darkness and the dreams that would come. She tried to focus instead on Michael, on his heart beat, his breathing, but didn't seem to be succeeding much. She focused, and matched her breathing to his, and slowly, she drifted to sleep.

She didn't sleep well. She made little mewling noises, and was tense, shaking a bit. She would have tossed and turned if she could have, and she appeared pale. Her breathing became shaky. It was clear that she wasn't having pleasant dreams

Michael soon woke up and flinched, he saw Kalinda pale tense and shaking. He took a deep breath, before shaking her shoulders, "kali wake up wake up kali." He couldn't believe he had talked her into getting sleep, he now felt like a jerk. He kept shaking her shoulders, "damn it come on kali wake up." He needed her to wake up, he still couldn't believe he had talked her into this.

Kalinda seemed to calm at Michaels voice, and she relaxed, her breathing evening, she didn't wake, but instead just seemed to go passed the point of dreaming, and just slept. She wriggled slightly, into Michaels warmth, and she sighed softly, content now. Her expression became peaceful, and while she was still pale, colour was returning. "S'kay" her voice sound muffled, as if she was absently reply in her sleep

Michael sighed, as she relaxed she wasn't shaking anymore. He turned onto his side facing her, "I'm right her kali I'm not going anywhere I promise that." He watched her sleep, she was calm now he guessed she calmed down by his voice. He put his arm around her waist as she curled up into him he was happy that she had calmed down and was getting some sleep.

Kalinda didn't sleep for long, perhaps for an hour, or two. She woke slowly, groggily, feeling as if she'd been hit by a brick wall. Her muscles hurt, and her body just generally seemed to ache. She knew she'd be covered in bruises already, as her fast healing ability struggled fix whatever damage she had received during the fighting.

She blinked, looking up at Michael, and she smiled slightly, She remembered hearing his voice as she slept, and she wondered what she had done to deserve him, to deserve his care, and his kindness.

Michael hadn't known he had fallen asleep, till he was opening his eyes. His body hurt, he knew that much most of the wounds that had gotten through the suit were bandaged already, but they still hurt slightly as he woke. He saw kali awake next to him, he really didn't know what to say he was at a lose for words for once.

Still he didn't move from his spot next to her, he smiled a bit he still wondered what he had done to catch Kalinda's attention and affection for him. He knew he didn't do anything fantastic it was just him being him when he was working with the rest of the team.
