In short, don't be a dick. Saying most of the people on this forum are basically Hellbound because they don't accept Jesus kind of fits the bill, and if there is a God who decides all things, then He allowed Francis to become Pope. Hard to be the head of the Catholic faith by not believing in Jesus. And no, changing the dogma of an ancient institution to reflect the times doesn't mean he doesn't believe in Jesus. I'm like 99% sure the Pope is more pious than you are.
Piety is not the requirement for salvation. Also, saying that I am a dick for having unpopular beliefs is ignorant and arrogant. Also, look throughout history. Although I'm sure there were some Pontiffs that may have been saved, it doesn't mean that there weren't a whole lot of them who weren't adulterers, nepotists, murderers and torturers. I was fine with Benedict, you know. I wasn't convinced he was going to Heaven but hey, he might have been. Francis, probably not so much. It doesn't mean he won't be in Heaven if he doesn't believe in Jesus right now, or even a fraction of a second when he closes his eyes for the last time. Thing is, that when you close your eyes for the last time, you can't tell anyone else what you believe anymore. Maybe his "Piety" as you put it, won't get in the way of him finally accepting the Lord as the way to Heaven when he breathes his last breath, but you know, when the VATICAN, which agrees with quite a lot of what the Archbishop of Rome has said for hundreds of years, argues with you about Athiests making it to Heaven as long as they try, as Francis put it, you know that something's off-kilter even for the Catholic Church.
