This idea is based on a game that a friend had created on the OldGuild entitled Grey Skies. Unfortunately, he disappeared before we got a chance to see the end, and after a while I decided to make a reboot under the title Catelli Manor. Eventually that game also sank, and so here I am once again in an attempt to find new victims to ride this story out with me. That's all. Read on, my comrades!
------ Your Saturday starts out as normal as any other: You wake up, eat your first meal of the day, then go about your business as you usually do. Perhaps you have a hair appointment at the mall. Maybe you are spending a day with family. Or possibly you have to pick up laundry from the dry cleaners. Regardless of your plans, there is nothing out of the ordinary that is worth your comment, and so you go on with the day undisturbed. It isn't until your return home that you notice something is different about that Saturday. As you make your way towards the door of your home, your gaze lands on a sleek black briefcase leaning against its foot, with a laminated tag hanging from its handle, sporting your name in cursive handwriting. Suspicion invades your mind and immediately you turn to look at every corner of your street/hallway/yard to see whether you can't spot the person that had left this strange parcel for you. Of course, there is no one in sight, and so you turn back to it and stare, debating on what your next move would be. Curiosity wins, as it always does, and soon your hand is closing around the handle to heave the surprisingly light case into your abode. Placing it on your table, you proceed to take the laminated name card in your hand and examine it, finding that there is a four digit code written in small type on the bottom left-hand side, which you then enter in the lock at the top to open the mysterious case. You lift the lid, and inside you find a letter envelope (again bearing your name), a passport, a flight ticket, a key on a ring with a number, and a thick manila envelope. You decide to open the letter first:
Dear (Your name), Congratulations! You have been chosen as the receiver of an all expenses paid trip to the Woll Manor! Located in Sweden, this estate has been passed down from generation to generation, and as part of the Woll family's tradition, has annually selected a lucky few to stay at the luxury home for two weeks. Enclosed you will find your passport, room key, flight ticket and information, and 5,000 American dollars in cash. Please do not lose any of these, for we will not send replacements. We hope that you will use the money to buy wardrobe and any items you might need for the trip. Be advised that there will be many events hosted in the Grand Hall, and therefore we suggest purchasing plenty of formal wear. We also propose that you buy warmer garments, such as jackets, hats, etc., as there will be plenty of opportunity to wander the grounds. Finally, do not be late for your plane. It is not a private jet, and will leave whether your are on it or not. We hope you will accept our offer, as we very much look forward to meeting with you. Sincerely, Ingrid Olsson Secretary of Woll Estate
Still reeling from shock, you read the flight information that was hiding behind the letter, which tells you that your journey begins two days from then. Next you pick up the passport, which you open and see, with another pang of shock, that a picture someone had taken of you only a week or even a few days ago is staring up at you from its little box. Finally, you graze past the key and the ticket, until your eyes fall on what was really tugging at your interest: the manila envelope. Could there really $5,000 in there? You pick it up and untuck the flap, and indeed there were stacks of hundreds in rubber bands tucked inside. Maybe more than a little freaked out, you replace the contents of the briefcase and do what you do whenever you find yourself deep in thought. And so the question hovers in the silence around you: Do you accept? ----- Hi everyone! Name's Bliss, and I will be your GM for this joyride. I'll just organize my rambling into bullet points to make it a little easier to understand (hopefully).
The game details;
[*]As it says in the title, this game is meant to be a dark, mature, murder mystery type, that heavily relies on character (and player) choices. This means that what happens in the game can change and is affected depending on how every character decides to act when presented with a situation. [/*] [*]There will be some quiet moments in the IC, but that doesn't mean that nothing is happening: I will be constantly running around behind the scenes sending PMs to players containing information and such, which may or may not be represented in the IC. This will create that nice mysterious ambiance, as the group won't know who I'll message with next and what it will contain. Players also have the choice to withhold most of the PM'd information from the group.[/*] [*]There may or may not be character death, so please do not whine and complain if I decide to write yours off. (More about this in the OOC, perhaps.)[/*] [*]This game is meant for regular joes like you and I. Therefore, I suggest making a character based on yourself, that reacts as you would in a given scenario. It makes for a more fun experience.[/*]
Kind of players I'm searching for;
[*]I prefer smaller games, and especially since I'll be heavily orchestrating this one, I think I'll only be taking on four or five people. I might even be looking to find a Co-Gm for help. We'll see.[/*] [*]Characters need to be 18 and over. This game is going to get bumpy.[/*] [*]And here's the little diddy about quality over quantity that everyone should know by now. Above all, I'm just looking for players who write posts that will be entertaining for everyone to read, as it is as much your game as it is theirs.[/*] [*]Players that communicate. Yes.[/*] That's all I can think of for now. Of course, there'll be more information in the OOC. If you're interested, let me know in this thread. But since I'd really like to keep the OOC for the actual players to avoid clutter, I'll go ahead and say: If you're really interested, shoot me a PM with a post, describing how your character reacted to the package, what they might have bought and packed, etc. It will act as the character sheet submission, and I will create a cast based on those that I think will work well in the game. Questions? Comments? Let 'em rip. Looking forward to hearing from you! Bliss
