Name: Quentin Elson Codename: Killshade Age: 34 Gender: Male Place of Birth: Detroit, Michigan Affiliations: The League, formerly with the US government and Army. Occupation: None currently, he has enough money from his prior service to live comfortably on. Appearance: He stands 6’2 and weighs 200 pounds. His hair is buzzed and he has taken to growing a light beard. He is in very good physical shape and can be commonly seen working out when not on duty. His outfit is made of mainly kevlar molded with high strength metals. Powers: - Expert level regenerative healing factor: Through his enhancements, Killshade is able to heal and recover from injuries that would incapacitate the normal man. The more serious the injury, the longer the healing will take. He still feels the pain from each of the injuries, so for example he could get shot in the arm five times, he’d still feel the pain of getting shot, but the wounds would heal. There is a limit to his healing ability. - Flash step: He can move extremely quickly over short distances, a maximum of twenty five feet. He tends to use this skill in combat when facing an enemy in hand to hand; he’ll move himself behind the enemy and hit them from a vulnerable angle. Or use it against groups of weaker foes, seemingly disappearing and reappearing in all different positions to take out multiple foes. - Enhanced strength, speed, agility, balance, senses, reflexes and agility. These are not super, but they are beyond what an ordinary human could achieve. His strength allows him to lift three times his own body weight (roughly 600 pounds). Skills: - Killshade is a highly trained swordsman, using it in combination with his enhanced physical abilities and flash step in order to make short work of his foes. His preference in a fight against a powerful foe is his sword. - He’s a great hand to hand combatant, knowing several martial arts which include karate, boxing, judo, ad jujitsu. - He’s solid with firearms, but he prefers to use either his sword or his hands to fight. Equipment/Resources: - His sword, specially crafted for him while he was working for the government after undergoing the enhancements. It was crafted from the hardiest steel and he always keeps it at its sharpest. The sheath is on the back of his suit. - A semi automatic pistol. - On his belt he keeps flash, smoke and tear gas grenades, along with ammo for his pistol. - Communications ear piece. - His motorcycle, his main mode of transportation since he can’t fly. It can reach a max speed of 190 mph. Weaknesses: Killshade is durable but he’s not a tank, he will go down if he takes severe physical punishment. He always aims to take out any enemy as quickly as he can; prolonged fights are not his strength. His healing power has a limit, brutally severe injuries will kill him, acts such as total decapitation, losing all four limbs or being cut into pieces will do the job. He is also completely mortal in the mental sense; powers which affect the mind will harm him as well as magic. He also needs to breathe, as well as eat and drink. Psychological Profile: Killshade is a quiet, intelligent individual. He’s not particularly friendly, but he’ll get along with others if they get along with him. He hates dealing with governments or politics in general, but he understands that the League will likely have to work with governments in order to achieve their goals. He follows orders of his superiors, and as such will do what he needs to get the job done, though he’s not afraid to question the orders if he sees fault in them. He doesn’t get any enjoyment out of killing, even killing evil doers, but he thoroughly enjoys a thrilling fight. Killshade is a serious thinker, always mulling over scenarios that might occur and what might go wrong. He considers himself a morally right man; he’s ultimately about the greater good. If a few civilians must die in order to stop someone who will kill hundreds more of them, then he is willing to sacrifice those civilians to get the job done. This doesn’t mean he doesn’t want to protect innocents, he certainly does. He’s just still in the process of sorting out where a genetically modified man like him fits in to all of this. Biography: Quentin was born in Detroit, he had a normal childhood, nothing that extreme happened to him. His father was a plumber, his mother a waitress. Quentin himself got in trouble in school for getting into fights with other students and talking back to teachers. Despite this he managed to graduate high school, which followed by immediately joining the Army right out of school at 18. He rose through the ranks and eventually went through Ranger school, graduating in time and becoming a Ranger. He was routinely deployed into the Middle East and excelled in the missions in that region. Once the Awakening occurred, his life changed forever. As costumed heroes began to appear, Quentin was approached about undergoing a radical series of procedures that would turn him into someone as powerful as these superhumans, someone able to combat these super beings if they became a threat to national security. After much thought, he accepted the offer, intrigued by the idea of becoming what he was told, “one of the first enhanced superhumans”. Quentin became Killshade the next day, when his procedures happened. After hours and hours of surgeries and injections, he woke in the hospital. His recovery time was astounding, his newly added healing ability allowed him to be on his feet within days of the procedures occurring. He was eager to test his new powers and his superiors felt the same way as they put him through two weeks of intense training which included matches against the top hand to hand specialists, obstacle courses and endurance tests. Once the testing was complete, Killshade was given his equipment, including his sword, which he personally requested after realizing how useful it could be with his flash step power. His first mission was to eliminate a dangerous terrorist leader hiding in the mountains. Killshade camped in the region for three days, waiting for the target to emerge from the caves. As soon as he did, the enhanced human struck, taking out the leader and his followers with ease. One year after the Awakening, Killshade ended up back stateside, tasked with helping combat the gang problems across the country. He spent three and a half years fighting this threat before leaving entirely, tired of essentially being a government ordered weapon, as well as being intrigued by the growing superhuman League in Chicago. He moved to the city and then for five months he simply laid low, watching the League with serious interest while keeping himself in top physical shape. He only recently decided to join, one month ago, partly because he was eager to fight again, only this time not for a government.
