Question real quick: (I just skimmed the OP to get an idea of what was going on, and I feel like I read the answer to this but I want to clarify anyway)

If I choose to make a hybrid, say 60% of A, 40% of B, I'm to assume that no matter how much my character "levels up", there is no way he/she could gain a spell with the powers noted in the "60%" section of race B?

And as for the lore (I'm asking this while considering possible character histories) what would young (child to teenage) characters be doing in their youth? I mean, what lead up to their decision to join one of the factions? Or is a faction something you're born into/picked up by from a very very early age? I mean, is there any sort of a coming-of-age thing akin to human's graduating college where they go to select what they wanna do with their life?
