Lazarus Lazarus had stepped outside. "Hey... Mayt... are we doing this then?" He cracked his knuckles and straightened out his white coat. He stood at the opposite end of the yard. "What will break first? Heaven? or Pure energy?" He grinned, excited at this prospect. He didn't know Mayt too well, as he hadn't been a guild member all that long. All he knew was that he used energy magic, a sort of concentrated magic user. "My soul is..." He paused, "Burning." He looked at Mayt with excited eyes. "Come! Hit with all you've got Mayt! Go for S class!" He clenched his fists, waiting for Mayt. Mayt Mayt chuckled, his sword at the ready. He was shifted back, and not in a position to strike firs, which wasn't his plan anyway. "Sorry, I don't strike first." He kept his sword out in front of him, not yet using any of his magic, He did however, start to circle Lazarus, watching him for any indication of what his move will be. "Why don't you show off your 'Angelic Power'. I haven't seen much of that yet, besides you flying around." Flying, the only thing he had seen Lazarus do that he knew would make fighting him difficult. But Mayt had a plan for this fight, to end it as quickly as he possibly could. Lazarus Lazarus folded his arms. "True angels don't strike down defenseless foes. Then again, you are a Phoenix wing wizard. You aren't defenseless." He took one step forward. "I heard you talking earlier about your doubt about this. You are much stronger than you think you know." He smiled with his eyes shut. "You are strong... but I wont lose to you." His voice turned from kind to cold. He spoke loudly, but calmly and slowly. "Regulus... impact." The silver flames formed in his hands. He dropped his cane to the floor, Mayt wasn't an opponent one could defeat with just one hand. This would require the use of both, and his entire body. "COME!" He brought his hands up to a fighting stance. Mayt Mayt kept his sword at the ready, looking at the fire in his hands. He could use that against him. Mayt quickly approached, keeping his wits about him, not willing to get too close too fast. He kep his sword pointed at Lazarus, and stopped moving when he was about three feet away. If he got any closer, his opponent could easily strike at him and hit, at this distance, Mayt stood a chance at seeing it coming. He didn't say anything, words would just be a distraction. Lazarus Mayt stopped just out of reach of him. He titled his head a little. "Eh? Smart man." He chuckled. "Most newer guild members come charging straight in. I was right about you. You are clearly strong." He paused. "But... maybe you should do a little bit of homework before hand." He chuckled. "Victory light!" With one of his hands he formed his light beam from a magic circle. Much like a dragon slayer's roar, it was a ranged attack. It shot out from his hand towards the wizard only a mere 3 feet in front of him. Mayt Mayt jumped quickly back once he started setting up the spell, and did his best to prepare to wrap the energy of the attack around himself instead of into himself. He mananged to weaken most of the strike, but he still took a little of it, and stumbled back a step. He readied himself again, letting the energy he had gotten off Lazarus' attack swirl around him, invisible. He figured he could use that energy one to defend against another attack. He approached Lazarus again, choosing this time to get just within range of his hands. Ready, he focused, waiting until Lazarus struck again, but this time, he was ready for almost anything. Lazarus Lazarus was somewhat puzzled. "You intend to use my own magic against me? Smart. Normally I would congratulate you." He paused. "But that wont work against myself. That energy will only obey the hand of an angel. Looks like you'll have to use your own magic from now on, and show me something. I can see my own magic anytime I like. Show me yours!" He grinned. "3 layered magic, tower of judgement." The magic circles formed above Mayt's head in a tower shape. The beam of light was a few meters in diameter, so Lazarus leaped backwards as the magic fired. The energy circling Mayt (Lazarus' magical energy) shot upwards to contribute to the tower, as it fired downwards into the ground, creating an airfield trap of bombardments of light magic. The attack would cause the dust in the yard to rise. Mayt Mayt saw the tower forming, and took this chance to charge at Lazarus, his blade suddenly heating up with the heat had gathered. Lazarus had left himself open, and he was taking the chance. All he had to do was get close enough to draw Lazarus' energy from him, contact wasn't required, but close proximity was. He started drawing heat from everything near him, trying to increase the power of his strikes, pushing Lazarus, not giving him a chance to summon another spell anymore, and drawing off his flames whenever he can. Lazarus The flames were bellowing in Lazarus' hands. They were somewhat disappearing. "Why dont you listen to me? That isn't going to work... Angel magic is different to yours... it wont help you." He sighed. "But lets do this the hard way anyway." He aimed a flaming punch towards Mayt's stomach, before taking a hold of his shoulder. He stepped them both forward, below the tower. "Let's have a little fun Mayt." The tower formed, and fired. In order to stand a chance of having Mayt staying under the tower. Lazarus would have to be hit too. However, considering it was his own magic, it shouldn't hurt so bad. The tower fired, and Lazarus felt the burning of the light magic braise his skin. When the sequence finished, he let go of Mayt and jumped back, flames still in hand. "Jeez..." He rolled his neck. "I forgot how much my magic hurt." He cracked his shoulders before returning to fighting stance, and also to assess the result of his actions on Mayt. Mayt Mayt was on one knee, his hand on the ground, panting. He growled, and stood up. He wasn't going to let this person win. He stood up, and readied his sword again. "That the best you've got?" He growled. He had managed to reduce the impact, but not as much as he would've liked. The flames from Lazarus still had heat coming off of them, and he had drawn off that, and he certainly had a good deal more energy than he did before. This time he threw caution to the wind, charging forwards and striking ferociously, trying to draw Lazarus' body heat away from him. Mayt knew if he made his body colder, he could make him weaker. Lazarus Mayt was on one knee. Although his attack had hit, he felt something else. Not many people below class A would with stand a blow like that. He smiled. Mayt was a true Phoenix wing member. No doubt Mayt wasn't finished. Lazarus wouldn't expect any less from him. But when mayt suddenly charged. It threw him off a little. He had no time to prepare. All he could do was lean back matrix style, as Mayt slashed. The blade caught the tip of his chin, making a small cut. Once mayt had surged past him, he stood up normally and regained his balance, wiping the blood from his chin. "Ok... Ok..." He shuffled a little, before his coat fell from his body and on to the ground. All he wore was a white tank top underneath. "Time to get serious. Now come at me properly!" He cracked his knuckles. "Wing formation!" He grew his angel wings and extended them to full length. Mayt Mayt turned quickly and charged Lazarus again, just getting a strike close to him allowed him to drain some heat, but the shortness of proximity meant it wasn't much. He didn't give up though, instead of a regular strike, he jumped up into the air and grabbed at Lazarus, trying to not only pull him down, but get a good solid grip on him and his energies. He had to succeed, he needed to succeed. He wasn't going to lose to someone like him. He realized in the middle of the jump Lazarus would simply move out of the way, so Mayt struck out at where he figured he'd go with his sword, which was up. Lazarus Lazarus stood still as long as possible watching Mayt fly through the air. He smirked at the last possible second. "Max speed!" Lazarus flying magic was quite special, whilst he could fly normally, he could also fly at incredible speeds, only just being able to be spotted by the naked eye. He darted along the ground, hovering just above the ground, beneath the legs of Mayt. He made a swooping turn, fast enough so that when he returned, Mayt would still be in attacking motion. "Regulus impact!" He was now flying downwards from an angle into the ground. He aimed a silvered flamed punch into the back of Mayt, in an attempt to blast him face first into the dust. Mayt Mayt knew he wasn't going to land or turn around in time to stop Lazarus' attack, so he simply started to bend energy around him, every kind he could. His shape would be blurred by the light he's bending as well. And when Lazarus us about to impact, his entire body stops dead in the air. Mayt would crack an eye open when he isn't hit, and his concentration is lost, the field dropping and no longer negating Lazarus' movement with itself. He turns and readies his sword, locking his eyes on Lazarus. He backed away a bit, giving more room for him to react to another attack. He's panting, but it'd take a good bit more to knock him down for the count. Lazarus Lazarus landed on the ground with a heavy thud. "Very good Mayt. But this... has to end at some point." He sighed, deforming his wings. Horns forced their way out of his head, and the flames in his hands grew in size, turning black. His skin tinted red, and his eyes bright blue. He looked a little more buff and stronger too. His voice was also altered, to a darker more monotonous one. "With my left hand..." He brought his left hand into his chest. "And with my right..." He brought his right hand into his chest. "I'll banish you to the fiery pits of hell." Everyone who was a guild member for a longer time than Mayt would know this magic. "Satan's... grip." He surged forward at a similar speed to his winged attacks, blasting black flames as he went. These were no ordinary flames. They were devil's flames. The magic is designed to drain whoever it hits of some magical power. interesting, they were both using similar techniques now. When he reached Mayt, he would try to knock him over with a huge shoulder charge. Mayt Mayt barely saw the tackle incoming, but he knew there wasn't time to stop it, and he doubted his magic would stop a second attack. So he did the sensible thing, he dropped his sword and grabbed Lazarus when he hit him, holding on tight. Now that he had finally made contact, he could do what he'd been trying to do for half the battle. He closed his eyes and focused on draining Lazarus of his body heat, not enough to permanently damage him, but certainly wouldn't leave him feeling to hot ((Bad pun not intended)). After Mayt finished, he dropped to the ground, and rolled to his feet, one hand holding his chest, the other curled into a ball. He kept the newly attained heat behind him, but he was finding more difficult to control than ever before, much more. He looked over at his sword on the ground, and decided Lazarus wasn't going to let him have it back. He redied himself for the probability of another attack. He hadn't even tried to knock Lazarus out, afraid he may do far worse than that. Lazarus Lazarus felt a little cooler. Strange. It clicked. "You're stealing my magical power in the form of heat?" He started laughing uncontrollably. "You're going to try to steal heat from Satan?" Mayt had no idea how impossible his situation was. "Fine have it your way... Have all the heat you want." He clenched his fist and flared up again. His eyes were now a searing colour, and his tank top had now burned off. He pushed magical power into his hands. "This ends now!" He lept upwards, pushing himself into the air a little further before forming wings. He speed left and right, to try and confused Mayt. After a good 10 seconds of doing this, he darted in from the side, and aimed the largest punch he could muster up using his black flames into Mayt's cheek. The power of his punch and trajectory, sent Lazarus hurtling into a stone wall at the back of the court yard. He brushed the ruble off himself, now back in his normal form. He was panting. He'd just used a lot of magic power. "I'm impressed you've lasted this long Mayt. I must congratulate you so far." He panted smiling, before forming his silver flames. Mayt Mayt was knocked to the ground, and he spat out blood. His head was spinning, but he managed to push himself up. He put a hand to his head, and looked around for Lazarus. Through the fogginess, he barely could make out his figure. He stumbled over to where he cast down his sword, and manages to pick it up and turn to Lazarus. He wasn’t done yet. He closed his eyes and tried to focus for a moment, taking a few shaky steps forwards, his hands were shaking, he was pretty sure he spat out a little more than blood, but he was standing. Next time he got a hold of Lazarus, he wouldn't have that luxury. Lazarus lazarus was also dazed. His body was covered in more blade cuts than he remembered Mayt giving him. He didn't have much magic left, nor did Mayt by the looks of it. "Wing formation." He sprouted weaker wings than before but they could carry him. He used the dust to float in front of Mayt unnoticed. Once near enough he sprung out of the dust, wings stretched out wide, and landed a foot away from Mayt. They were face to face, both exhausted, and bruised. It seemed like he had gotten more physical attacks in on Mayt, but he had been on the receiving end of some major magic draining. He raised a fist, as if to go to hit Mayt and try to finish things, yet when he released his arm, it was ready for a handshake. He chuckled, over his weak breath. "Angels also can't hurt a friend." He paused. "Master Jamie can decide a winner. There isn't any need for more pain for either of us. We've both displayed our skills." He smiled and waited, his hand still outstretched. Mayt As soon as Lazarus said to stop fighting, and held out his hand for a shake, Mayt barely stopped himself from collapsing, and his sword clattered to the ground. His breathing becomes more ragged, and he spits more blood out of his mouth. He put one hand to his head and the other to his chest. He looked to be barely standing, either Adrenalin really nullified his sense to feel pain, or he has some serious willpower. "Yeah... Okay." Was all he could get out before he spat up more blood. He took a deep shaky breath before he stood all the way up. "Good fight. I'm going... To go sit down." He'd turn, and start to walk back to the guild hall. His hands were shaking slightly, and he didn't walk quite straight. Lazarus When Mayt turned around to go back inside, Lazarus followed. He took one step, before collapsing under his ankle. He pushed himself back up, breathing really heavily. He was completely drained. Mayt had taken all the remaining magic in his body. He smiled. Mayt really was strong. "Hey Mayt..." he called forward. "Good luck with S class. We'll both need it." He smiled, before wincing, taking another step. He found a chair in the guild house, and slumped down, his body flaring out in pain. "Aye aye... that sword does more damage than you'd think." He muttered. The blade cuts stung like hell.
