Those of the Ironblood are not farmers. They are miners and fishermen, sailors and traders. But before all, Ironmen are warriors. The name Ironstone once meant something. It once struck the hearts of all men with fear. Ironmen were raiders, by birth and blood. They would set sail in their dreaded longships, arriving in some unprotected village. They would plunder, rape and murder until nothing was left. Then they would escape into the night with their treasures, the only trace of their presence being the charred remains of their victims. Every man who lived on the coast feared the Ironmen. None were feared more than the Stronghearts. Though not kings of the Ironstone, they were kings in their own rights. From their mighty fortress Tallsheild, in Sharpsword, they ruled with an iron fist. The Stronghearts were warriors of the finest mirth. Each were trained to be above proficient with a multitude of weapons. When the first Overlord united Lundland, the Ironstone was the last to be annexed. They never would have been, if it hadn't been for the cowardly king Fulnar. The Ironmen were ready to fight for their freedom. Yet when Fulnar gazed upon the united navy of Lundland, he wetted himself and bent his knee. From that day, his name was erased from memory, and he has only known as the q King-who-bent-his-Knee. While the Ironmen have held nothing but contempt for that man and his family, the Overlord granted the man Lordship of the Ironstone Isle. Until now. Rorik Strongheart, merely a boy recently raised to power after the death of his power, revolted. The Ironmen joined his banner and they easily defeated the few loyalists with little losses. As the Lord of the Ironstone laid bleeding, The Strongheart crowned himself King Rorik of the Ironstone Isle. With the Overlord dead and Lundland in chaos, it is time for the Ironmen to return to their former glory. Motto: Stronghearts, Strong Men. It is meant to symbolize their strength and unity, shown by the gold band over the axe blade and handle. Their motto is 'We Conquer All We See.' ] Lady Olga is the lady of Lambcastle, Wavehall, Stonebeach, and Plunderbay. She is age 18, average of height and heavier of weight, pale of complexion, brown of hair, dark of eye, and possesing of a voluptuous figure. She is married to Lleold, age 38, born to and heir of House Dunsch-Taxi, the vassal of House Bloodsun. She has one son [ Osguid, age 1 ]. She has no siblings, cousins, nephews, nieces, or grandparents, and is effectively the last member of House Ealmund with any legitimate claim to its lands. House Ealmund had long inhabited the northern islands, and joined House Strongheart in all its campaigns, including their rebellion [ if it could be called one ] against Lord Fulmar. The House had once been the fiercest of all the raiders, providing weapons and ships if the other Houses could not make ends meet. But the once proud House has gotten soft of late. The late Lord Guldelic died a natural death at the age of sixty-three, leaving behind only a single eight year-old daughter, Olga. The old friends of Guldelic collectively ran the lands affairs, until the lady came of age at sixteen. Even then, the girl had been so accustomed to having things done for her, and Guldelics old guard had gotten so used to running things, that things had changed in names only. That is, until Olga unexpectedly married an older man she had been meeting in private for some time: Lleold of House Dunsch-Taxi. Not months after getting married was a child concieved. Despite the difference in age, the two seem to show a genuine love for each other, but the marriage was not matrilineal. As Lleold is the heir to the House Dunsch-Taxi, this means that upon Lady Olga's death, House Ealmund would become extinct, and their lands would fall to the Dunsch-Taxis. Concerned about this, Guldelic's old guard confronted Lleold. Words quickly escalated to violence, and the whole old guard were killed in court on charges of treason. It has been two years since that affair, and the once insufferable lands of House Ealmund are looking more welcoming each day. Everywhere, the influence of Lleold and his wealthy House is spreading. Even their feasts have become Mainlander affairs of sophistication, dress, and fine food. "The warriors of my land have become better dressers than fighters; they can chug a wine pitcher faster than they can swing an axe," one guardsman recalled of a recent feast. It is something of an open secret that Lleold now runs all aspects of House Ealmund's lands, when he's not busy defending his inheritance against his haughty younger brother, Phylls. He is man to keep an eye on. Fiefs Lambscastle Infertile [ 10,000 pop. It has not been said to represent anything, other than its founder, Lady Inga the Bear's favorite colour, and weapons of choice. Their motto is 'We Take What We Want.' ] Lord Dougan is the lord of Rabbit's Eye, Axecobble, Ogre's Den, and Grindings. He is age 76, tall of height and thin of weight, pale of complexion, gray of hair, and rheumy-eyed, though they used to be blue. He was married to Lady Dyda, but she died a natural death two years earlier at the age of 70. He has three sons, [ Ceric, age 54, Tom, age 50, Roger, 44 ], and two daughters [Frida, age 46, Helga, 42 ]. Both daughters have caught an illness, and are currently under quarantine. Each child has their own children. House Reaver was founded by Inga the Bear, a huge, ferocious woman who lived two centuries ago. Much of what is known comes through legends that perhaps once had a grain of truth to them, but are now clearly stories that have been embellished over the ages. What is agreed is that she was a fierce pirate and raider, who would charge into battle with an axe in either hand. House Reaver has followed the Stronghearts loyally since their founding, and remain the islands most prolific raiders. Their love of raiding is no mystery; their lands are the smallest and some of the least fertile on the islands. Lord Dougan used to be a man of great muscle and battle prowess, but that was many years ago. He considers himself unlucky to have gotten to his age, as he is too weak to die an honorable death in battle. As can be imagined, he sees civilian occuptaions as a necessary evil to provide for his campaigns. He scorns House Ealmund for having been given to a weak girl, and put under the sway of a Mainlander man. Each of his sons take up much after their father, but even they have their best days behind them, and have sons and daughters of their own to continue the family legacy. Frida and Helga have recently caught a very strange and violent disease, for which they have been suffering from for quite awhile now. They remain locked up in the manor at Grindings, where no one is allowed to visit them. As Lord Dougan believes, they shall either overcome their afflicition by their own strength, or deserve to die for their weakness. He has one son [ Ivar, age 22 ]. House Bloodhorn are descended from the Suehans, who migrated from their far northern islands to the Ironstone Islands long ago. Compared to their old land, the Ironstones were a promised land, where they could finally settle down and live a stable life. Though they came with peaceful intentions, they were no strangers to violence, and proved worthy of holding their own slice of land, even conquering several lesser Houses in the process. However, they were not entirely unaffected by the culture already present there, and soon came to blend their peaceful philosophies with the raiding ways of the natives, raping and pillaging alongside their new brethren. Lord Svipold is the perfect embodiment of this blending. He is a hearty, jolly man, who treats raiding as both a competitive sport, and excellent way to make up for the shortfalls in harvesting. He is quite short, standing just an inch shy of five feet, but is nonetheless stout, and an excellent fighter. His only son, Ivar, is quite a ways taller than him, and has already proven to be an excellent fighter in both tourney and battle. His wife, Ghelre, he picked for her lovely beauty, and though she had little say in the matter, and she was not exactly the woman he expected her to be, the two make for a darling couple.
