Basic Information Name: Dana Lucille Alcott Nickname/Alias/Etc: Grue Gender: Female Age: 20 Height: 5'4 ft Weight: 142 lb Status: Full student Appearance Hair Color: Black Eye Color: Blue Ethnicity: Caucasian - British, French, Danish, and Polish are in her blood Physical Appearance: Dana is a very mousy and petite young woman. She has a very nerdy, librarian, feel to her. Due to her glasses, and curly near-afro. One of the first things people notice about Dana is that she's paraplegic. She uses a wheel chair to move about. Because she's in a wheel chair, she hasn't been able to workout as much as she could. She has put on some weight, despite her best efforts not to. She has a little bit of a beer-gut, which she tries to conceal under heavy clothing. Other than that, her arms aren't too chubby, from all the extra work she does with them. She doesn't have the best posture, usually she's slouched in her wheelchair. Dana is a little bit below average height (Though, you wouldn't notice unless she stands straight up), at 5'4, and is a bit more plump than for er height, weighing in at 142. Dana is caucasian, she is American, but she has multiple European countries in her blood. You can see from her somewhat European facial features. Dana's skin is a beige white color, and pretty fair. Because of her lifestyle, she lived a life of being closed off the world, so she didn't get a chance to get too many injuries. She does have a noticeable scar on her cheek from a time her wheel chair tumbled over. There's also massive scar on her arm that starts at her shoulder and goes to her elbow. Like it was ripped open. Dana is said to be a very attractive young girl, not at supermodel standards, but is pretty. Dana has distinctly European facial features. She has a heart shaped head, and very pronounced and squared facial features. She has these large and beady eyes, that are a bright blue color, people find them slightly creepy. Dana has a triangle shaped nose, with a thin nose bridge, and a wide nose. She has large, narrow, ears, that are usually hidden underneath her shaggy afro. Dana's jaw is low and sleek, she has a fairly sharp jawline and a large blocky chin. Dana's hair is dark-black color, clean, and is very curly. She has a shaggy hairstyle that is almost like an afro, but not too big or silly. Sometimes she puts flowers into her hair. Attire: Dana dresses very modestly. Like someone decades older than her. She covers skin, and wears long, conservative skirts. Sometimes even seen wearing dresses. She likes to wear a variety of hats. Sun hats, fedoras, etc, etc. Whatever makes her feel stylish. Dana wears thin-framed glasses, since she has a stigmatism in her eyes. Personality Outward & Innate Personality: Dana is quite polite and well-spoken. She is nice to whoever approaches her, and keeps the conversation going. She is extremely morale, she would never consider hurting anyone unjustly. Though, she is nervous, and a little shy around other people. A bit closed off and introverted. She keeps her emotions and opinions bottled up and to herself. Dana is a bit of a doormat, she's easy to push around and beat up. Due to her current disability she can't properly defend herself (Despite the fact that she has a deadly power) and requires assistance most of the time. She's not even good at insulting people. One thing that drives Dana up the wall is when people treat her like he's helpless because she's in a wheel chair. She'll do her best to prove her worth. In terms of sexuality, Dana is straight. Hobbies/Interests: Music, video games, art, that kind of stuff. Skills/Talents: Since she's crippled, sports are out of the question. Dana has taken up some other hobbies to bide her time. Dana has taken to devote herself to becoming a singer. She has very good vocal control, and can sing quite well. She also knows how to use a few instruments. She knows how to play the violin, piano, and the harp. Dana is also an artist, who is quite talented with a pencil. Dana has also spent a bit of her time around electronics, specifically computers. She knows her way around today's electronics. She's also talented at video games. Prized Possession: A locket she received from her late-grandmother. Quote(s): "It's dark in here... Can you... can you see me...?" History/Bio: Dana had a disadvantage before she was even born. She was cursed with a malformed spine which made it impossible for her to use her legs. A few months after she was born, her mother left her with her father, Andy Alcott, and it was the last time they ever heard from her. It was believed that she didn't want to raise a disabled child. Life certainly wasn't easy for Dana, but since she was born crippled, she didn't have to make the sudden adjustment from walking to a wheelchair. Her father kept the funds coming in because he was the Principal at a local high-school. That said, she lived a life normal enough for her. She went to school, but never really fit in with the other kids. They were running around at recces, and she was... just there. She was bullied quite often, merely because she couldn't fight back, but no matter how many people harassed her, she always found a friend in someone. It was one of the things that molded Dana. Her father, and friends, made her realize that she could be better than that, and not to resent things. She matured a little faster than girls her age, where children were fast, energetic, and fun loving, she was slow, steady, and mature. She focused on the one thing she could, academics - That, and video games.  She spent a great deal of her time learning about anything she could, going to the library fairly frequently. Knowledge was just something that interested her. With this mindset, Dana advanced and advanced, going from first grade, to fifth grade. Dana found out that some things just never change. The same bullying that happened since she was in first grade still occurred except more harsh than before. Dana had already built up an emotional resistance to it by then by keeping in mind that there's always a light at the end of the tunnel, and it was all the same. Dana's powers at unexpectedly developed when she was eleven. In a not so good way. She went to sleep a normal girl, then woke up an abomination. It was... horrifying. An experience like nothing else, worse for a girl her age who didn't quite know what happened. It was so shocking that it took away Dana's ability to move, let alone scream. When she did managed to make a sound, she made a loud, inhuman sound, that caught the attention of her father. He came in with a weapon, believing his daughter was in danger - But the second she came in slight, she was normal as she should have been. She couldn't believe her eyes. Dana wanted to chalk it off as just a dream, but her father knew it was something else. He wasn't personally experienced in the world of Meta-humans, but he was versed enough to tell that Dana might be a Meta-human. The second he left, she changed again in an instant, and ran into the same situation as before - Which confirmed her father's suspicions. After a sleepless night (for both of them) Dana's father had to find someone who could help Dana. Since public schools won't be able to help his daughter. Her father became interested in the many Academies for Super humans that are scattered around the world - But, he didn't want his daughter to be in any but the best Academies that would be well-equipped to handle his daughter. So he spent a few years pulling strings, and doing favors, to get his daughter into the most prestigious school, Academy 218. But it was terror for Dana. Every time he turned his head, she became a monster. Which made her desperately want to be the center of everyone's attention. But, it was something she became used to. Something she realized was a power, a gift she could say. She stopped fearing it by the time she was twelve, an impressive few months since she's triggered. She experimented with it, and realized all the things she was capable. Movement unlike before, she was already capable of movement no human girl should be. She had the personal theory that she could even walk. She had the appendages needed for it. So, she tried walking while transformed, it wasn't as hard as she thought, but she managed to teach herself to walk. It wasn't something she expected. Standing straight up, without her wheel chair. Something incredible. What was even more interesting was how fast she could go. Right off the bat she ran fast as cars. Dana told her father about this development, and he was quite pleased that she was getting used to it. Since she had to basically deal with two puberties. At once. But there was always the uneasy feeling from being such a creature whenever nobody was looking at it. Roughly a year later, Academy 218 had sent her an invitation, which she gladly accepted and was shipped off there. It was a strange place, among the strangers that were just like her, but at the same time different. She had quickly learned that her disability would be the least abnormal thing here. At first, she was intimidated by them, being a lone girl in a wheelchair. But she learned that many of them weren't so different from her, and she formed relations with them (The people like Henry, Vera, and others). She was still bullied from time to time. Her power had also developed around that time, her speed had reached even higher levels, however it was difficult for her to train her ability. By the end of the school year, she had returned home a different person. For the better. She was ecstatic to return there. After a heartfelt talk with her father, Dana decided that she'd make the change to a Full Student, and the Academy basically became her home. She left the island from time to time, such as Christmas, but generally spent most of her time there. Dana became a guide for the kinder new students. Helping them get acquainted with the school, and telling them all she can. Becoming one of the student that were known for being helpful. Because of this, she became close friends with Terry Obott, who, with her encouragement came out transgendered. They have been close since. Dana graduated high-school with flying colors and entered the college courses for computer science. Dana is attending her second year of college. Family: Dana has a fairly small family. It was just her father, Andy Alcott, and herself. She never knew her mother, her father tells her stories about her mother sometimes. There's also her father's extended family which involves his parents, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews, and cousins. Relationships Theresa Obott | Very positive | Close-Friend | "Theresa is one of the only friends I have on this island, honestly. He... She... Is a very kind and unique human being that just doesn't deserve the abuse she gets." | Henry Olin | Very positive | Friend | "Despite having a frightening appearance, he is actually a very nice guy. He's helped me, and Tess, when some of the other students picked on us. " | Karlie Davis | Good | Room-Mate | "She's certainly one of the more energetic students here, I like her. Though, we're two different people." | Aislin Rose | Good | Friend | "A new student here, we haven't talked much, but I get the impression that she is nice. I hope we get to talk again." | Vespera Spindel | Bad | Stranger | "I keep my distance from her. We are two different people, and I do not wish to associate myself with her. If she gets violent, all I can do is hope I can catch her by surprise..." | Adam Blackmore | Good | Teacher | "I respect Adam. I really do. I just think he goes overboard." | Poppy Flanagan | Good | Tess's room mate | "She is quite the fish out of water, I've seen her type of person before. She seems nice, but is quite shy. I know she'll grow out of it as things become normal for her." | Codi Bailey | Neutral | New Student | "A new student that came along with Henry's trip, she has the strangest growth on her back. I want to get to know her." | Atticus Fowler | Neutral | New Student | "Friend of Codi, like her I haven't seen much of him to decide what I think of him." | Jago Javaunt | Good | Friend | "My, my... This child's attitude will get him into more trouble than he thinks. But I enjoy playing chess with him, and trying to keep him out of trouble. Even if I'm in no position to." | Abilities Power Class: Other 8 Power: Unseen Monster Transformation. Whenever Dana is out of sight, she instantly transforms into an extremely fast predator. Something that appears so wrong that she needs to be out of sight to transform. In this form, Dana will be able to move at lightning fast speeds, so fast that it can interpreted as teleportation. Fast enough that she can break someone's neck before they even have the chance to blink. This form is also pretty agile on top of that. Capable of wall crawling, and other inhuman feats of agility. If Dana moves at just the right speed, she can be really hard to hear - Since there's no footsteps, only a slithering sound. This form has an enhanced physical attributes, enhanced strength, and durability. It's also suspected that she has extra-limbs like tentacles, or extra arms. It is also believed that she has claws. Dana's alternate form possesses a regenerative factor. Any wounds Dana sustained are transferred to her alternate form, and she quickly regenerates them. Dana has superior night-vision regardless of the form she's in. Weaknesses/Limitations/Drawbacks: Dana's power relies on being out of sight, if she's in sight, she's basically human as they get. Since she's in a wheelchair she won't be that mobile, nor threatening, to begin with. If she's caught without her wheelchair, she'll be a sitting duck. She can still be detected by either extra, or enhanced, senses. But long as she's not physically seen, she'll remain in her alternate form - However, if any ability can make out her shape, that'll make her revert back. Dana's regeneration has the basic regeneration weaknesses (Can't heal from brain damage, fatal wounds, etc, etc) but it basically only works when she is out of sight. If someone is looking at her while she's regenerating, she'll stop once she reverts back (But, the wound will be healed). Dana has a weakness to mirrors. If she is viewed through a mirror, she will be paralyzed and completely helpless until eyes are averted. From Dana's eyes, she goes into a coma-like state, until she's snapped back to normal. Dana can also be kept in human form by being near to anything that depicts her (Pictures, accurate drawings, etc). It works like a field, I could say, while she's in the field, she'll be completely human, and once she leaves it, she can transform again. It's range is around twenty or so feet. Cameras can also prove a bit of a problem, she can transform while a camera is viewing her (She's invisible when recorded - Don't ask, magic) but if someone is watching it, she'll stay human or revert back to normal. Other: Longtime student at the Academy, she has been attending for seven years. Dana has been crippled for all her life because of a birth/spinal defect. However, because her spinal cord isn't broken, she is not completely paralyzed. She can still feel her legs, and could move them to a degree (Her legs had atrophied to the point of uselessness). She can give birth, move her toes, and so on. She just can't walk. Dana's themesong:
