Katiel did not move again that night. Sleep was not a possibility for his kin, and his eyes did not tire, which meant he could simply watch and wait indefinitely. He was sure that he heard the flapping of impish wings once more in the night, but no demon made their presence known. Likely the imp thought trying the same trick twice would lead to its brutal demise. He clenched his fists, a furious growl slowly beginning to rise from the pit of his stomach. There was a rushing of blood in his ears, a searing anger in the deepest mote of his strange soul. It was an urge he quickly suppressed. He was not sure where the rages came from, or their purpose, but he had been told that they were present in those touched by the essence of the Ophanim, over long periods of time. His training had certainly been that - a century in mortal reckoning, locked in a chamber with the whirling fires. It gave some of the angels the queer bloodlust he found himself fighting against: to seek, hunt, kill, rip, tear. The divine wrath was strong tonight. Eventually, he calmed again and regained his vigil. He was there when Kari went to bed, when she rose again, and throughout her breakfast he remained motionless in the branches, staring at her. This time, he wasn't all too worried about being seen - she knew he was there, and she seemed to accept his presence for the moment. What proved more problematic was the following day. Thought Kari might not mind him keeping vigil from afar, it would be a lot more difficult once he neared a high-school. Strangers were not always welcome, and it's not like he could lie and say he was a new student... although... Katiel had been told before that he looked young, and might pass for Kari's age if he changed his mannerisms slightly. American schools don't have uniforms, so his current attire - a clean white shirt, jeans and a warm jacket - would hardly attract attention. He mulled the idea over for a few minutes, before deciding that it was his only recourse. He would wait for Kari to appear, then walk to school with her - if asked, he would simply say that it was his first day at school. Which it was, in a strange way. He had certainly never studied on earth before.
