I'm curious of what would happen in a Kaarme tried to take genetic information from a Shuunai. Assuming their DNA could actually be used (plant DNA and creature DNA don't often meet eye to eye) I feel confident a Shuunai could survive the event with their regeneration and the fact that their body-fluids aren't as vital to their survival as most life forms are. I'm pondering this. Overall I think they're a really cool species, even if they spend their time going around the galaxy and sexually molesting things.
I would expect they would get genetic information which would be passed on, to some degree. In the original history I wrote for the Kaarme-ihmisen, they had taken genetic material from plants on their home planet as well. It didn't kill the plants, but the offspring were interesting. Needed a sunlight to survive, became especially warm blooded, and didn't have to eat. Some, mainly from trees, had their scales replaced with a bark of sorts, and a few sprouted leaves or petals like a mane. My guess is the Shuunai individual would have a hole in its bark that would regenerate and no other lasting implications, besides maybe some psychological stuffs. The main reason the Kaarme-ihmisen kills other species (mostly) is the Kaarme-ihmisen have developed a second pouch down their throat, like a halfway stomach, that holds a copy of the individual's genetic material, (interestingly enough, genetic material taken in through the tail can be stored here, rather than fertilize eggs) and the tail sucks the genetic material from there. This pouch, and the throat, are extremely thick-skinned, almost scaled, because the tail acts as almost a vacuum. So when a Kaarme-ihmisen takes genetic material from a squishy, it normally sucks out most of the stomach/esophagus/bodily fluids because the other body isn't suited for a high-strength vacuum down its guts. So a tree/Groot/thing would probably be just fine, considering its guts would probably be harder. And thank you by the way. I had created the race for an exploration/interaction based sci-fi RP before that never got off the ground. It would have been a blast, basically exploring a map, trying to take genetic material and conquer planets in the name of expansion while other players are trying to establish trade routes, territory, slave routes, or even just protect the weak. Oh well, maybe I'll start something like it around a physical table with a group of friends one day. I also wanted to say your race is really cool as well. Is it based off of Groot in a way, or was it just a master brainchild of your own? Either way, I think tree-based aliens are sweet, especially because most have regeneration thrown in, and they don't die, just become trees.
