"No one is answering god damn it all!" Brian tossed the head set aside in frustration, five days, five long agonizing days he had the boss breathing down his throat to get the damn supply depot on the line. They had already missed three deliveries and were rounding on their fourth by tomorrow at noon. Brian ran his fingers through his thinning hair as he let the small amount of sweat slide through the cracks of his fingers. This wasn't normal, in fact this was the farthest thing from normal, the supply depot was never late and even if they had to be late they would call and verify it with him so he could relay it to the boss. They were already dwindling on supplies as it was and there was barely enough fuel left to warm the damn base none the less the entire living quarters, shit he had been freezing his ass off with a space heater for nights on end now. Getting up from his chair he walked to the window of the radio tower and looked out over the icy landscape of the Antarctic. Once upon a time this place was beautiful to him, a white glistening wonderland if you would, he enjoyed it out here the solitude of it all, being away from the city away from his violent job from before. But it had been almost fifteen years since he had accepted this job as Chief of Security, fifteen years since he first came to this science installation in the middle of a frozen tundra. Brian turned away from the window as he pulled out a crumpled pack of Marlboros and placed one in his mouth, with a flick of his thumb he lite the match and put the flame over the tip and took a long drag off the smoke. Technically he wasn't suppose to smoke in doors anywhere, but after his cold nights in his room he wasn't about to go freeze some more outside. Sighing Brian returned to the communications counsel and picked up the head set slowly sliding it back over his head. "Antarctic Base 003689 to Main land over..." There was a barrage of static as Brian waited for a response, any kind of response, even a garbled on with every other word cut out would be a damn relief but the static just continued to sound. Turning the chair he checked the frequency for the fifth time but it was set correctly, hell he had checked the array more then once already, everything was in working order... but no one was answering. "Antarctic Base 003689 to Main land someone pick up damn it..." Brian took another long drag off the cigarette and let the smoke fill every pore in his mouth and nose and then released the smoke after a few moments, the boss was going to chew him out yet again for something was not even his god damn fault. Taking the headset back off he tossed it aside, he would finish his cigarette before telling the boss what was going on. Back in he day the man known as Spencer Oswald was more of a nice man then the prick he was now, in fact he was actually a good friend of Brians... that is before his wife left him high and dry for some rich doctor. It was the same old story really, passed along through time itself, man loses everything, becomes a recluse, buried in their work, and a dick to everyone else. There was no more time to delay, Brian tossed the smoke on the ground and crushed it under his boot then picked the butt up and pocketed it. 2 Hours Later... "Then check the array again! There must be something wrong with the fucking thing!" Brian shook his head as he was damn near red in the face, for the past thirty minutes he had been getting chewed out just like he predicted and he was at the edge of his nerves now. Brian wanted to punch the fucker but he knew that would cause more problems then it would solve. Gritting his teeth he tried to speak calmly to Spencer to try and make him see reason. "First of all I am not a damn mechanic Spencer I am Chief of Security, I make sure problems between staff are settled not look at machinery. Second I have checked and rechecked every possible damn thing I could, everything is working properly the problem is no one is bloody responding to any of my transmissions. The problem is not on our end its on theirs, and whatever the hell the problem may be I can't solve it 500 miles away..." Brian watched Spencer slam his fist on the desk as he got up from his chair and walked around the desk coming straight up to Brian. The man was a pipsqueak at 5'5", compared to Brians 6'2" height he was almost like a teenager. Pointing his finger straight in Brians face Spencer broke out in and angry rant. "I pay you to do what I tell you to do you ass hole, and I am telling you to get me the supply depot on the line, were running out of food, gas, drinking water, every god damn thing is almost depleted! I don't care what it takes, I don't give a shit if you have to fly out there and see what the fuck is going on, I want that supply drop here by tomorrow afternoon or its gonna be your damn head sitting on my desk! You got me you son of a bitch!?" Brian gritted his teeth, so hard that they damn near cracked, it took all his will power not to punch Spencer in the mouth and just tell him to shove this job and this base up his damn ass. However Brian looked Spencer in the eye's and spoke lowly trying to keep the edge out of his voice. "Fine... I will take the chopper to the main land myself and see what the hell is holding up the shipment, its obvious that no one is going to answer my transmissions." Brian turned away from Spencer before he could continue to further berate him and walked out of his office slamming the door behind him. Brian punched the walls a couple times as he just wanted to scream in frustration. He needed to get the hell outta of this ice box and quick before he ended up killing someone out of anger. Walking back towards his room, Brian would pack a few things and then head for the mainland, being back in civilization would do him good... however in the back of his mind the question remained. Why was the main land not answering his transmissions? =======================
For those of you who were too lazy to read the small opening story here is a basic recap and information that you will need to know when the roleplay starts. The starting story takes place in an Antarctic base far from civilization, it is a research base of sorts. Now the base gets supply drops every five months, and its been almost 6 days now and they have not received their supplies, and no one is picking up on the transceiver. Little do they know the world is in hellish turmoil and has been for the last four months i.e. the Walking dead Virus. So there is two start points in this roleplay, point A is you start at the Arctic base and are leaving on a helicopter with my character Brian for the main land, you have no idea whats been happening on the main land and are basically walking into a new hellish world. Starting point B will be on the mainland where you have been surviving for the last four months. You can pick either starting point, the main roleplay is going to take place in Florida where the Main land Depot is, you can start wherever you please if your starting at point B, anyone in point A will follow my lead until were into the main land. So without further talking from me lets get this going! Oh and any questions you may have feel free to PM me or put a message in this thread. An also an important note, this is a high casual Roleplay so please make every post have two good paragraphs.
====== Rules ====== 1.
