That crossed my mind as well AlienBastard. The solution that I came up with (and please bear with me, I have to explain a couple things first) is that the planetary government is not equal to the local government of its planet i.e. the Chancellor is not equal to, say, the President of the United States regarding intra-planetary matters. The planetary government acts like U.N. of our day and age. They just arbiter the relationship between two or more nation. But the Chancellor is greater than the President regarding extra-planetary matters, so trade between two planets is the concern of the planetary government. The President has no say in the matter but the USA Representative, who is part of the planetary parliament, has. Just so to be clear, the Representative is not equal to or greater than the head of government of the Nation they represent but they are considered to be the Nation in the parliament. They only have power within the planetary parliament and not outside of it. This would mean that the RP and the players concern themselves little, so to speak (the Sovereign Nations still play a factor in the RP since they're the one driving the government but not the plot), with the politics presented in their planets and focus primarily on extra-planetary politics. Either way, the government sheet will only cover the planetary history and culture and not every aspect is needed. I made it so that only the past century will be important plot-wise and any other information regarding the time prior is expanding RPverse. I want the players to have as much freedom defining the universe the RP is set in and since I’m making this an open RP, newer players may include their own creative ideas. I’m just restricting the type of government the planet has i.e. a semi-presidential system as stated in the preview I’ve posted, so that everything is uniformed in the grander scale. I also simplified the resource management side of things. I made sure it’s easy to learn but hard to master so not to scare off players. I’ll provide a brief history of the past millennia, starting at the beginning of space colonization which is 26th century and ending at RPresent. The overall era and age will be defined by the planets terraformed or space colonies established. I already have an outline, just have to polish it up a bit. I’ll leave the technology advancement to the players, seeing that’s one of the reasons why Sci-Fi RPs are fun.
