Their armour is a basic khaki flak chest piece that offers less protection than most Guardsmen’s armour however it is cheaper and easier to produce. Armouries on each planet also hold heavy weapon platforms for dealing with larger threats as well as a small contingent of Valkyries and Chimeras for fast response. The Terran Guard (Regiments 1st to 1750th) - Numbers: 15,000 per regiment - Hardware: These are the backbone of the Terran Initiative Armed Forces (TIAF). They are armed with basic Lasguns, personal Laspistol, a bayonet and frag and krak grenades. They wear a two piece flak armour that is dark grey and covers their torso and thigh. Each regiment has a number of Chimera transport tanks and Sentinel walkers for transport and support. The Terran Angels (Regiments 1st to 500th) - Numbers: 1,000 per regiment - Hardware: The Terran Angels are the drop units of the TIAF. They are armed with a mixture of lasguns, snipers and shotguns, frag and krak grenades as well as combat knives and, depending on their mission, melta bombs. They wear a lighter version of the Guardsmen flak armour and have it painted jet black as well as attaching a grav-chute to the back. Each regiment has a number of Valkyrie transports as well as Vulture Gunships. The Fist of Terra (Regiments 1st to 750th) - Numbers: 6,000 per regiment - Hardware: The Fist is the armoured regiments of the Terran Initiative. They are made up of Lemen Russ Battle tanks of different variants, Hydra flak tanks and Basilisk artillery units. As well as the crews side arms and the usual mechanical equipment needed to maintain such a large volume of vehicles. The Terran’s Eyes (Regiments 1st to 500th) - Numbers: 3,500 per regiment - Hardware: The Terran’s Eyes are used as the scouts of the TIAF as well as the first responding if they do not want to commit the full force at first. They are armed with Lasguns and combat knives as well as having some of the best sniper units the Terran Initiative could find, though they lack any real heavy weapons apart from the usual frag and krak grenades. They are clad in the same armour as the Terran Guard though theirs is normally a similar khaki as the PDFs and has a cloak to aid in camouflage and to act as blankets in cold weather. They also have very few transports as they excel at traversing terrain on foot, normally calling in for help if a situation requires rapid response on a large scale. Army Total: 33 Million Personnel Side Note: The army makes up the different garrisons on the planets whilst the Terran Angels are used as special response units and so do not ‘officially’ count as a garrison. Instead moving across all three planets as needed.

The Terran Initiative actually began, officially, around a century before the death of the Emperor. A group of influential men and women of the Holy Planet decided that Terra itself was poisoned from the inside. Corruption, bickering and backstabbing were all too common and they believed it was going to kill the Imperium off slowly. In response to this they began to pool funds and promote campaigns for finding a way to ‘Purify the Holy Planet’. Charity events and outreach programmes to help those less fortunate were put together. In the end though the council in charge of the funds descended into the same bickering as the rest of Terra and the aid for those less fortunate stopped. A few years passed and all that happened was people got angry at the ruling class, a large pot of money was put together and a small fleet was built and left to orbit Terra to keep their assets safe. Up until the death of the Emperor the Initiative was simply donated more funds and given access to more equipment as other powerful families used the Initiative as almost a charity pot to curry favour with certain groups in the masses, though few seemed to understand that the people didn’t want money going to a useless fund. All that changed with the death of the Emperor however. As the psych blast tore across the galaxy those nearest the blast were of course hurt the worst. This meant agonising deaths for the Navigator families who held much sway within the Imperium and Terra. With the death of the families it left a very large number of private armies without employers and a lot of state of the art equipment no longer with owners. In response the latest donors in the Initiative declared that they would go and seek out a new planet to make their own base for a ‘New Mantle of Man’ however they also failed to inform anybody that they would be taking the assets of the Initiative. Using the now quite large pot of funds they bought the Navigator families armies and set about giving them their first task, which was to ‘acquire’ as much of the late Navigators assets as they could without causing too much friction with anybody else. This was mostly a success as the leadership in the armies still had full access to all of the Navigator family’s possessions and estates. By the end of around 2 weeks they had doubled the size of the fleet with Navigator vessels and recouped the cost of the armed forces through the accounts of the families. As well as this they accessed each family’s full armoury to fully outfit them as much as the Imperial Guard themselves. Finally the Initiative set out, stopping briefly in Mars to tow away a number of ships they needed and commandeer some armoured vehicles. The journey was a long one however arriving in the Badab sector they were able to establish themselves by staging a coup against the planetary governors of three planets. The masses remained fairly happy with this as for them it was simply toppling very corrupt and despotic men. There was some resistance from the Imperial Guard presence however it was tiny in comparison and was lacking any real leadership. Those who surrendered were simply sent away on converted freighters as a message that the Initiative was not an enemy of the Imperium but would not adhere to the old ways of organisation. To begin with things seemed to go well. A new structure was introduced and the planets began to work together to create a self-sustaining realm. However those that were in charge were beginning to revert to the old ways. Red tape was planted and each planet started to work less and less efficiently. In response the head of the Army, Lord-General Titus Maxim, staged another coup. He marched onto the ruling council and arrested each man and women for treason before having each one executed publically. This unstable the region slightly and for a few moths the Army was required to keep the peace whilst Titus installed his own men into positions of power and began a campaign for a new single head of the Initiative. Soon a referendum was taken to reform the Initiative into a single head with the only candidate being the Lord-General himself. He won with 100% of the vote. His first act was to dissolve the sub structures in the armed forces and create a single entity which was the Terran Initiative Armed Forces (TIAF) as well as removing a lot of the red tape that blocked big businesses and he publicised some of the larger factories. In recent years the Terran Initiative has stabilised and, some would say, stagnated however it continues to work efficiently and grow as a power. Contact with the Black Scorpions Chapter of Space Marines was made recently however every contact has resulted in the Initiative being forced to retreat. Titus Maxim has recently declared that the Initiative was simply testing the Chapter, finding numbers and the strength by deploying small fleets and then pulling them back before any real battles could begin. A cold war was how it was last described.
