#7 Lily forced herself to not look back; although it had been a year since the outbreak had begun, she had never got used to the sight of the walkers voraciously tearing apart and devouring flesh. It was sickening. This world had become an eternal nightmare in which the only recourse was death. She ran alongside Samantha and the two of them dodged protruding tree branches and scattered detritus on the forest floor, leaping over rocks and small streams as they tore through the night, eager to escape the dark forest. They eventually found themselves back among society, or at least, the remnants of it. A vast and endless highway greeted them, inundated with long-abandoned cars and interspersed with solitary shamblers. Even if they got one of the cars to work, it would be impossible to maneuver it through the blockage. They would have to rely on their already exhausted legs for this trek. "I'm sure one of these cars has a map in it." she suggested. "Once we find it, we can turn in for the night in a van or something. I really need to rest my legs up... We have a long few days ahead of us."
