By your standards, of course - I suppose the most enjoyable one you've participated in. What factors made it so great? Why was it so memorable? Am I a weird navel-gazer pining over the past? Five years ago I had the pleasure of roleplaying with a wonderful group of people. Between the eight of us, we had about 13 characters. I still remember every single character because they were so compelling. They were diverse and colorful... Even the people playing "average-guy-next-door" types did a great job bringing them to life, and the scary ones gave me chills. Character interaction always felt alive. It helped that most people's writing style matched my preference for clear prose with minimal meandering. And geez, some people could really write. I loved reading everyone's posts in that roleplay. I definitely felt like we were all on the same page. Honestly, the story and background was pretty simplistic: it was a Zelda-esque roleplay with basically the same plot as Ocarina of Time. We filled in the world and plot as we went. Our characters' actions had natural consequences and that's how stuff happened. When each component of a roleplay is solid, it's just so excellent. IDK, man. It was good.
