The Kwan Family Location: Middle of Nowhere in the Earth Kingdom Open? No The hot white disk of a sun bore down upon the dry and dusty plains of the Earth Kingdom. Whilst too hot to be actively supporting much wildlife, the sands of the desert have not encroached upon this endless stretch of flat, hard dirt, leaving the surface with deep wrinkles and cracks with the odd shrivelled plant desperately poking from the red earth - an echo from the rainy seasons. A thin pale beaten path split the red landscape in two, and it was this self-same path that a group of people would be traversing across at that very moment in time. Admittedly, the Kwan Family didn't -really- mull over the lack of water and money as they left their home around a week ago and thus supplies were starting to encroach dangerously low levels. With about half a water barrel left for all three of them -and- the Ostrich Horse which was plodding along with them, supplies were reaching a dangerously low level and there hasn't been a signpost in ages. "It's a straight path," Jian would repeat monotonously, in time with the beat of her sandals on the hard dirt. "We're going to find a town sooner or later." Should anyone at this point believe that Jian was being surprisingly level-headed, they would be sorely mistaken. Jian was not someone to throw a temper tantrum, but she can writhe in her own sour temper for weeks on end - and has been doing so for the past 7 days in a row. She was one of those 'quietly mad' people - her footfalls were stomps, her body swayed with the thumping of her heart and she would've ground her teeth into indistinguishable stumps if she wasn't too tired to do so in the first place. However, Jian was resolute. She knew they'd find a town sooner or later because it was impossible for them to -not- find a town on this road. She gazed down at the dusty path ahead of them and saw the clues. Cart tracks. Footprints. Some travelling party has been across this road and recently, and they were bigger than our team, much bigger...but only one cart. And the tracks aren't too heavy either. All signs, to her, pointed towards a lightly-packed team of people headed across this road and she'll either find a town, or a bunch of dehydrated corpses and an old cart. ...She really hoped it was the former.
