Pierce grabbed Evelyn as she started to falter, a mix of trying to pass out and cry out in pain washing over her. ”Hush hush darling,” he growled, his words soothing but his tone harsh as he yanked her to her bedroom, grabbing the key from her vice grip and tossing her onto her bed. With one hand holding the skeleton key and the other running over his hair as if to correct it, though it had never fallen out place, he watched her writhe for a moment. ”I’ll be back tonight to take you to your new home. Say goodbye to whatever lonely memories you have here,” he said quietly and without feeling before turning and walking out of the room. He locked her in the bedroom, pocketing her key and leaving out the back door from which he had entered. Still sticking to the shadows, he awaited til the sun was further down before seeking out returning to his home, and perhaps taking another less valuable prize along the way. --- Evelyn was left moaning on her bed, shivering and yet overwhelmingly warm at the same time. She felt her heart beat rapid and pounding before it slowly started to fade. She choked, coughing violently as if trying to restart it, or find a need to breathe, but it was all leaving her. She was dying. She shook, partly from fear and partly from the pain, until all of it started to ebb. And she was left with this coldness. It permeated every inch of her. She lifted her trembling fingers, which were slightly paler than normal and realized they were so cold they were almost numb. She tried to walk over to her vanity, stumbling a little until she reached it. Looking into her mirror, she looked noticeably different, but not in a bad way. But it was frightening to wake up one morning and look one way, and suddenly now, she looked different. She whimpered, upper lip lifting and causing her to clamp her hands over her mouth in shock. Eyes wide, she slowly peeled her hands away and snarled at herself in the mirror, taking in the vision of her now elongated canines. This wasn’t fair- she hadn’t even been given a choice! And now he was going to take her somewhere else? A new home? No! She would not stand for it! She grabbed her silver hairbrush and smashed the mirror, furious.
