Serving in both Balkan Wars, Kağan showed aptitude for command, from which he derived his surname meaning "blitz", and reached the rank of Yüzbaşı. During his military career, Kağan held ties with the Committee of Union and Progress and supported their rise to power. Though disliking the early neutrality of the Empire, Kağan was pleased at the results of the Great War, and welcomed the acquisition of new lands. Now working to enter the political sphere, Kağan has been an advocate for the statism and modernism espoused by the People's Party, however his imperialistic and sometimes pro-Turkish views has put him at ends with the moderates and minority groups.
