In 1931 the 5 families of New York came together and formed a syndicate referred to as "The Commission" that would remain at the heart of organized crime in America. Their influence and control of underground activity built an empire; engaging in racketeering, conspiracy, loan-sharking, money laundering, murder, narcotics, gambling, waste management, and extortion. The Infamous are ruthless, hardened criminals, self-made-millionaires, that make their own rules, hurt people along the way, but if anything, they are family. In the Mafia, family is the most sacred institution of all, more important than God, more important than wives and children, and certainly more important than any one member. The recent police raid conducted on the 5 families' strongholds in New York and New Jersey led to nearly 80 members being indicted on a number of felony charges. Whether or not they will recover from this latest blow is anyone's guess. The 5 Families of NY
No. of members: 200-250 Boss: Carlo "Ringneck" Chicones Underboss: Louie "Lucky" Piazza Bio: The Chicones are surely one of the most ruthless crime outfits of all. Sicilian emigrant Carlo Chicones is the boss of the family. Under his leadership, the family dominates the underground crime world and sets the stage for future generations. He forged a business relationship with Gino Abruzzi Sr., and together their offshore gambling houses in Cuba and the Bahamas has earned them staggering profits. His charismatic and fearless persona has elevated the family's profit, but at the same time has drew unwanted heat and a barrage of attention from the Feds and the media. Current Status: The power and influence of the Chicones is on the decline. They recently suffered a huge blow when, in Operation Clean House, the FBI arrested and indicted as many as 62 members of the family on charges raging from murder and drug trafficking to robbery and extortion.

Taken** No. of members: 150-200 Boss: Gino "Junior" Abruzzi (imprisoned) Acting Boss: Abe "Snake" Abruzzi Underboss: Cesare "Sid Tomato" Pirrone (play by Polyphemus) Bio: The Abruzzi family was founded by Gino "Nino" Abruzzi senior in 1931 with the formation of the "5 families" governing body. It was taken over by his son Gino "Junior" Abruzzi in 1932, who drove them to new heights of success in part by increasing control over the Hoffa Unions. The Abruzzi also have a number of New York policemen under their employment - their job? To carry out mob-style "hits." Current Status: Now one of the most stable of the 5 families, the Abruzzi are looking to reassert their place at the top of the underworld.

No. of members: 120-140 Current Boss: Acting Boss: Underboss: Bio: The Tessio crime family is named after Tony "Tony tha'devil" Tessio, the man who, perhaps more than anyone was instrumental in the formation of the Mafia Commission. The Tessio are mostly known as the family who came close to accepting an underground FBI agent into their family. Because of this sloppy oversight, the Tessio are kept out of the Commision until they can once again prove that they deserved a spot. The Tessio are credited with orchestrating the French Connection, a heroin pipeline that runs from Montreal, Canada to New York, and is a huge vein of profits for the family. Current Status: Over the last two years, the Tessio have been ravaged not only by police infiltration but also by high-level defections that stemmed from the subsequent arrests. They are struggling to stay active in the underworld, and to maintain the approval of the rest of The Commission.

Taken** No. of members: 150-220 Current Boss: Antonino Stracci. It has its roots in the Sicilian Mafia, but is a separate group in the United States. The Stracci succession is not necessarily hereditary, though it can be. However, some believe the Stracci are going through a phase of quiet and productive rebuilding.

No. of members: 200-250 Boss: Unknown Underboss: Unknown Bio: Nicknamed "The Ivy League" of organized crime, the Schibetta have unparalleled success in the underworld. Female companions of the NYC Mafia, not only put their lives on the line being associated with some of the most dangerous men in the world, but also acted as their accomplices in some of the most deadliest crimes. Mob Molls are vixens in their own rights, have no qualms about using their sexuality to get what they want, have attitude, and can hold their own with the criminals they run with. They love the fast and dangerous life as much as they love their bad boys, and live for the money and the excitement of notoriety.
This is the interest check for The Infamous: The 5 Families of NY, a mobster roleplay set in the 1930s. Each family has their own history. You will pick a family and play as one of the families rising members, and work your way up to leadership. You can play as Boss, Acting Boss, Underboss, or muscle. I've named a few key characters which I will be roleplaying in order to provide some direction. I want to see original characters only, so please be creative. In the meantime, those of you really interested can work on your character sheets. Once you have them, PM them to me so that I can look them over.
Family: (select the family you want to run.) Race: (It is the 1930s so there are only but a few proper races to choose from; German, Italian, Jewish, Irish, and mix, and most are immigrants or children of immigrants. Racial profiling is very important in this period.) Rank: (Some families have open ranks to be filled, others have been taken by me in order to control the major plot. So, if you are not a boss you are a soldier.) Name: (birth name) Nickname: (Most mobsters are given nicknames by the family, or more often by the press and cops, which sometimes results in them having more than one nickname. However, to keep it simple, choose a nickname that best fits your character and tell how your character got the name in the bio.) Age: (18-50) Appearance: (I prefer description to pictures, but you can add a face-claim if you like. And only RL images please.) Personality: (Tell us about the personality of your character, but if you prefer to reveal their personality as the story develops, that is fine with me. Still, write up a paragraph and leave some mystery.) Bio: (This part is important - you have complete autonomy over the family you've chosen so be creative. I want to see your writing style here, and as much information about your character as possible. The key points of interest here are quality over quantity, but within the rules of casual RP - so, 3 or more paragraphs please.)
Mob Molls required a character sheet of their own, so if you are playing as one complete the skeleton and PM me a copy so that I can review it.
Name: (birth-name) Nickname: (Make it a juicy one.) Race: (Molls can be of any race, even minority.) Age: (18-25) Profession: (Molls are found in the most festive places, so they tend to be dancers, actresses, singers, waitresses, or whores - choose wisely.) Appearance: (I prefer description but you can add a face-claim if you like, and only RL images please.) Personality: (A Moll has more personality than anything else be very descriptive, but can also leave some mystery if you wish to reveal your character as the story develops. Still I expect a paragraph at least.) Bio: (Talk a little about how your character grew up, and how she became who she is today. I love a good sappy story, as I think most Molls had horrible childhood. I want to see your writing skills here, so write as much information as possible. The key points of interest here are quality over quantity, but within the rules of casual RP - so, 3 or more paragraphs please.)
