Deadman's Gun - A collab between Shadowcatcher and Jedly
Gen continued to advance through the city to reach his objective. Through intermediate glances of his behind, he tabbed his pursuers' progress. "Damn, T. Those things are getting closer. I think E. is about to wet himself!" A pout sounded from his behind in response to the remark, "I am not that scared! I just feel sorry for those things! They can't even give hugs with those huge claws." Fully aware that both personae were unable to grasp the predicament they were in. In the short amount of time he had to analyze the corpse, he took into account the raptor's proficiency in speed and physical capability. With this in mind, Gen estimated that some members of the pack would catch up in a few moments. As the teen sprinted through the streets, lugging his rifle in his hands, he slid to a halt at the terrain before him. Cutting through what should been a four-way intersection was a rift, he couldn't hazard to guess its depth. Glancing to his sides, he set his eyes upon an alternate route down the road. But with such a detour, the situation was as clear as glass to him. He could run for as long as he wanted, but chances are, those long snouts housed an acute sense of smell. Making a retreat would only delay the inevitable. Gen slid to a halt and made a stable footing, bringing his rifle up to his shoulder. He focused on a pair of entities, peering down at him from ontop of a pile of rubble. His heart sank as he took the distance between the grimm and himself into account. The raptors had managed to gain a position of higher altitude in a short amount of time, "Damn, they're fast." As he attempted to create some more space between them, his heel eased into intangible air. With his back against the wall, he cocked Sagaciter and prepared for combat. The first raptor got a running start and pounced in Gen's direction. With its feet at the ready, hoping to sink them into the boy. He easily saw through the blatant assault and fired a round into the beast's stomach, creating a hole in its side. Though the creature instantly went limp, its body still retained its momentum, "Move! Move!" Gen thought to himself as he sought to evade the carcass, failing to take the weight of the Grimm into account. As he lept to the side, the creature's snout came into contact with his waist, forcing him closer to the edge of the cliff. Tightening his grip around the rifle, he hoped to push away the corpse with his semblance, forcing his hand against the body. But such a large creature was extremely heavy, too much mass to move alone. With his free hand, he gripped onto the road and in hopes that his fingers would wrap around something tangible. Still keeping the raptor's partner in check, he aimed down the thermal sights and pulled tightly on the trigger. Guiding the projectiles to their target, they incapacitated the raptor before it could even start an attack. With both of the antagonists now deceased, Gen could focus on the problem at hand; He was now falling into the dark embrace of the rift, his tie flapped uncontrollably as he descended. "Yay! We're falling! Oh, wait. Oh no, we're falling!" As Rielle fought her own battle, not to far away from Gen's position, the girl began to realize that no matter how many Grimm she torched, there were always more to follow. She wasn't going to get anywhere like this, and despite enjoying destroying the beasts, she fell back, knowing there was no way for her to reach her objective if she carried on. Rielle shot out her hand and created a wall of fire that spanned the width of the street she was on, hoping to buy herself some time as she slipped away. She was fast on her feet but faster in the air. Despite this fact, she stayed on the ground, not wanting to become a target for any Grimm that hadn't noticed her position. Instead, she weaved through tight alleyways and crumbled buildings, having changed Seraphine into its original bow form. Her hand left hand was at the ready to create an arrow, her pointer finger occasionally twitching as she heard sounds that might signal danger. She continued along to the North, closer to the inner city, and made it a point to stay away from any busy streets. She had to occasionally duck inside a building as a group of beowolves passed by, and she wondered if maybe all the Grimm in this city worked in packs like this. Not once had she seen or encountered a Grimm that was not without a friend or two. It was strange, seeing as it was something the girl had never seen before. The alley she took next had come to a dead-end, and Rielle cursed aloud, having to retrace her steps back to a large road that was eerily quiet. She pulled her hood over her head, as if it would conceal her rather than make her stand out, and folded her wings back into their place at her back. Just as the light flapping sound they produced faded away, she heard a cry from a beast, and ducked behind the nearest trash can. Two Rage Raptors had just sped by a few meters away, and continued on down the road that was perpendicular to the one she was on. As she crouched there, she thought to herself that perhaps they were in persuit of something... or someone. "Shit." Rielle would curse as she stood up and ran in the direction she had saw the two Grimm running towards. She heard a few shots being fierd, and as she approached the corner of the road, she peeked over from behind a building to see an unlucky someone facing off against the two at a close intersection. Though whoever it was looked like they were handling themselves, she still dashed towards them, just when they took out the first beast. As she was running closer, Rielle recognized the clothes the person was wearing, and soon, was able to see that it was Gen Hio who was trying to defend himself. In a matter of moments, Gen killed the second raptor and sent it falling in a dead heap. Rielle had slowed her pace and was about to call out to him when she noticed it looked like he was losing his balance. Behind him was a deep rift in the earth that would likely kill him if he took a tumble down there. "Like hell he's getting away from me that easy!" she said excitedly as she started running forward again. She snapped her wings out and flew towards her friend with her arms outstretched and a wide grin on her face. "Gen Hioooo! Yay! We get to be partners!" she said as she tackle hugged him midair and sent the two of them flying to the other side of the rift. Too excited to fly any farther, she simply let them fall back to the ground, her landing cushioned by his body. As the two came to a stop, she sat on his belly and poked his cheeks. "Heyyy partner." she said happily, not so much because she had saved his life, but because she had claimed her buddy as a partner. Gen grimaced as he felt a sharp pain course through his back, along with being propelled across the rift. His semblance lacked such force, meaning that the figure suddenly hugging him was his saviour. As his eyes focused, he was faced with an individual he recognized, "Oh, it's that faunus which Compassion befriended. Primary objective: Partially complete." Acknowledging his progess with C's assignment, he deduced Rielle wasn't aware of his mental condition. Blind from the fact that it was a different persona holding the reigns, Tactician managed to imitate his creator's personality, "Thanks for saving me there, Rielle. I was definitely a gonner." At the mention of their partnership, he recalled the headmistress' set rules. Since Rielle was the first student he came across- well, more like she found him, they were now deemed accomplices. "Partners indeed. I'm sure we'll be more productive working together. I'm basically useless on my own, so I'm glad we met up. Anyways, let's get a move on." The monotone voice barely masquerated Compassion's passionate tone, but it would've been hard to make a connection through the incessant poking of his cheeks. Though he was mostly focused on their current situation, he couldn't help but to think of possible tactics to employ in the future. Gen leaned forward as he placed his hands on the ground, then rose from the tarred streets. The few moments of respite were swiftly brought to an end as the two heard more calls from down the street. Easing his fingers around the grip of Sagaciter, he stared at its embedded green lighting, "Let's get ready for battle, shall we?" He dropped to a knee, peering through the sights, expectantly waiting for their attackers. "I'll try to pick off as many as possible, but they'll easily be able to span this rift. Do you think you can drop those which make it to our side?" He asked as he glanced up at the red hooded girl, though he already expected her answer. When Gen had made a move to get up, Rielle quickly stood off of him and helped him along. The two had barely had enough time to catch up or say much else before the familiar call of the raptors was heard close by. Moving to Gen's left side, she transformed her bow into a spear, the bladed parts ending in tips on either side. "I can fight long and close range, so you don't need to worry about me. Though, I suggest we try to move while we fight. They seem to just keep coming, and we'll be here for days before we kill them all." she said, her tone was more serious this time. She was now not only defending herself, but getting ready to defend her friend. No more games. Her eyes could see farther than a normal human's could, and some yards out, she could see the raptors coming at them in a group. "There are five of them this time. The one in the center is behind and slightly bigger than the other four. The ones in front seem to be ready to protect the big one. It's likely the one we should watch out for." she told him, gripping her spear tighty. Gen listened closely to his comrade whie aiming down the scope, noting every detail she made. "That's quite the formation, I can somewhat see them from this range. They'll protect the leader, eh?' He mentioned aloud, leaning his shoulder closer to the stock. "Well, that's an easy way to pick off one or two." As the raptors approached them, Gen focused on the ringleader, holding in a breath as he stabilized his sighting. Once he felt contempt with his accuracy, he squeezed Sagaciter's trigger, letting out a shot of glowing green dust at the beast. Mentally leading the projectile, one of the four acted as he suspected. Since their role was to protect the leader, it willingly jumped in front of the round, taking the hit for the leader. The beast fell to the ground and rolled into a heap, but wasn't spared even the slightest of a glance from its packmates. The formation continued ahead, quickly enclosing on the two students. Gen sent a few more rounds down range, but the creatures realized his abilities and began to dodge his attacks. He only managed to down one more as they finally reached the rift, leaping over the gap with grace. "Don't let those claws get close to you! Keep your distance, that tail isn't for show!" Gen called out to Rielle, informing her of the raptor's tail, which was twice as long as the body. As the first raptor gained a footing, it raised its arms and extended its neck, letting out a shrill cry through its glistening sets of teeth. "Right." was all Rielle had said to show her understanding before running forward to intercept the closest raptor that had crossed the rift in the earth. The legs had to be powerful indeed to get it over the wide gap in a single leap. Rielle had quickly thought of a plan of attack, and as she approached the beast, it lowered its head in an attempt to bite at her. As it did, she quickly ducked, reaching her hand up close enough that her fingers gently brushed the chin of the beast, and sent out a blast of fire directly at its head. The force of it had sent it going backwards, and she used the oppourtunity to slice at its legs with Seraphine. It was mostly as a test to see the strength of its legs, and as the bladed tip hit the beast, it got stuck in the leg, and Rielle's eyes widened. "Ah... Okay, taking out the legs is a no-go!" she said before using her wings to jump into the sky. The force had unlodged her spear from the leg of the raptor, and as soon as she had a good aim, she threw it, hitting the thing right between its eyes. She dropped down then and went to retrieve her spear once more, only to see the second raptor coming at her from the side. The fight between Rielle and the raptor only took a few seconds, ending in the girl's victory. From his viewpoint, he found himself captivated by how quickly she defeated the beast. Though, there was no time to remain in his daze as the second combatant cleared the gap. Rielle retrieved her weapon and affixiated herself towards the beast, Gen raised his firearm and shot at its leg, drawing its focus to himself, "Keep the large one preoccupied, I'll take care of this lackey." He stated with a stern expression, placing his hand on a built-in switch. "Oh sure. Give the tiny girl the big one. It'll be your fault if I get eaten." she had joked with him before flying to the other side of the rift where the big one paced in wait. Along with being able to turn into a passive mode, Sagaciter also had a more efficient assault rifle composition. Flicking the switch, the barrel collapse on itself, decreasing the length of the frame by a few inches. Being more compact, the mode was extremely effective in close quarter combat, where Gen tends to falter. As the raptor turned its attention to him, he readied the rifle and sent a few volleys towards the beast. It took the offensive and charged at him, dodging his attacks with seemingless ease. Gen clicked his tongue as the creature held out its claws, leaning its snout forward in an attempt to latch onto a part of the teen. Hio sidestepped the beast and raised Sagaciter, he tried to counteract the recoil of the fully automatic weapon Leaving a few gashes on the raptor's exterior, it let out a cry of pain and whipped its tail around, slamming into Gen's side. Caught completely offguard by the attack, he was sent flying a few meters, skidding on his back against the rocky asphalt. Stiffling a complaint, he regained his senses and raised Sagaciter as his attacker made a final charge. With its mouth agape, Gen lined up the barrel of the gun and changed the mode. The rifle's exterior extended, and without realizing it, the creature had its mouth around the muzzle. Without changing his facial composure, he pulled down the trigger, gauging a hole through the neck of the beast. Just as the big one seemed to notice his last buddy was about to go down, the raptor ran forward and lept across the rift, coming towards Rielle who was ready to intercept it. Thinking quickly, Rielle flew straight up into the sky and then crashed back down onto the beast, hoping to hinder it from getting across the rift, but her light weight had caused the thing little more than just an irritation. As it landed on the other side, it began to thrash around wildly in an attempt to get Rielle off its back, and without having anything to grab on to, she had easily been tossed aside, landing on her bottom a few feet away from it. A childish pout had formed on her face. "None of you Grimm have no respect for a lady!" she squealed as she pushed down her skirt that had flown up as she fell. As he pushed away the corpse of the minion, he brought his attention to the last raptor. Flying over the rift, with a winged girl hanging tightly to its back, the Grimm began flail its weight around. As Rielle fell to the ground, Gen sent a few rounds at the beast's neck, hoping to distract it. He glanced over to his partner, and saw what should never be seen, "Holy shi- Tactician, Aggressor, Exuberance, avert your eyes! T, focus on the raptor, not... that." A flustered voice ordered the trio, "What's the matter, C?" A. snickered as Gen delved back into combat, keeping the raptor focused until Rielle regained her footing. Rielle scrambled to her feet, her face growing as ruby red as her hood, not only out of embarassment, but of anger. Though most of it was directed at the raptor, a bit was also towards Gen Hio, who she knew for certain had totally looked right up her skirt. "Even when we're facing a life or death situation, you can't control yourself can you?" she said in an iritated tone as she reached for Seraphine and transformed it into a boomerang. With the raptor focusing on Gen, Rielle flew up and moved back to take aim at the neck of the beast. If her boomerang would hit, the thing's head would surely slice clean off, but that meant Rielle actually had to get the fast bastard. "Is there some way you can keep it still?" she called to him. They had to take this one out quick. No doubt other Grimm were closeby and had overheard their commotion. Gen quickly thought up a tactic, one he would commit himself to follow through with. He nodded and seemingly changed Sagaciter back to its compact mode, "Alright. This should work." Keeping pressure to the trigger, the fired volleys attack the beast from multiple angles. The relentless attacks left no room for it to change position, utterly forcing it to remain at Gen's will. "Do it, now! He called out to Rielle, keeping his eyes glued to the creature and its movements. During the time Gen was thinking of a way to stall the raptor's movements, Rielle had been using her semblance to heat up the metal body of Seraphine. The metal was a type that could absorb large amounts of heat without melting, and to ensure the Grimm would stay down with this last move, Rielle had forced as much energy into her boomerang as she could. When Gen gave her the signal, she threw Seraphine as hard as she could, straight at the neck of the raptor. It spun through the air at a great speed, and when it hit the beast, it sliched straight through it's neck like a hot knife in butter. Moments later it came back to her and Rielle slowly drifted to the ground until her feet touched the pavement. She frowned an raised a hand to cover her eyes as the head of the raptor slowly slid from its body with a nasty sound. "Ew..." was all she said as the beast's headless body fell to the side, and it lay dead along with its other soulless companions. Slowly she made her way over to Gen, pulling the head of her hood over her hair. "You know, Gen Hio. ...We make a great team." she said as she looked at the bodies before them. Gen relieved his rifle as the creature finally fell, letting out a sigh as the battle came to a conclusion. As Rielle mentioned their effectiveness as a team, the persona wondered how to respond. "Smile, of course! She just complimented you." Compassion yelled in Tactician's mind. It took a few moments for him to make an attempt at the faical expression; the product being what looked like the grin of a maniac, "...Yes we do. Well, let's get a move on." He motioned his head towards a random road, hoping it would take them to their destination.
