Nathan quietly considered the alien's response. While he didn't intend for that question to be entirely serious, it seemed that the alien at least took it seriously. While it would have been interesting to hear if there actually was any sort of active hostile forces out there, it was somewhat reassuring that not even the alien, who he assumed had some past experience with interstellar exploration, had no answer to his question. Nathan's attention drifted over to where the alien had moved to, and was seemingly preparing some sort of extraterrestrial beverages. He heard food mentioned as well, but he wasn't hungry, and he was never interested in alcoholic beverages. Even if the stuff on this ship was different, it probably had some sort of similar effect. Fortunately somebody decided to start talking to him, while being on this alien starship was amazing, his lack of sleep caused his attention span to shorten significantly. He turned to the voice, and it was somebody he think introduced herself as Jennifer or something. He was never good with names, and the fact that he recalled hers surprised him somewhat, which caused him to pause for a moment before speaking. "I studied at the University of Minnesota, on the Duluth campus. It's honestly pure coincidence that lead to me getting on this ship, since I was only in New York to visit some friends at a nearby convention. Another day or two and I would've been back in Minnesota, and none of this would've happened." He turned a bit towards one of the ship's many views of outer space, and seeing it made him think about where they were headed, as the alien never said anything specific about where they would be going first. He heard another person on the ship voice a similar concern, but instead about how far they had gotten from Earth, although he couldn't pin a name on the voice.
