That why Kapu could have the 3 year thing, and you could have your "Needs extra time" thing.

EDIT: And out of curiosity, could we see a few more details about his personality? How does he act around people who aren't friends? What kind of people does he not like? Et-cetera. I'm mainly curious, so if you don't want to that's cool. (Not as if I could do much anyway :P)
