Well whatever powers the relic is the same thing as whatever powers the other relics. There will be a range hting ot which shadows he can draw and what his extensive range his. Of course his range over physical shadows is lesser than that of illusionary. 

Also I thought it was a nice tidbit weakness that he can't manipulate his own shadow.
