I’m looking for two other players to join me in a three-player RP. I’ve got a three ideas, but I’m open to suggestions. Rules: One character per person. We’ll make use of side characters or NPCs as we need them. No fandoms or anthro characters. Posts should be at least two to three full paragraphs long. I’m not looking for novellas, but I would be pushed to kill if I see a one-liner. Write realistically and be reasonable with your characters. They’re people, too. Third person, past tense. No excessive coding. Post as often as you can, but you must post something in the OOC if you haven’t replied in a week. Just an update or something to let us know you’re still alive and interested. This will be a round-robin sort of deal. You don’t have to post if you absolutely can’t think of anything. Just say “pass”. Romance is optional, but if we do it, I don’t want to third wheel anyone. So, we could either go the polyamory route or make use of side characters. It’s all or nothing. All of these have the potential to be mature RPs. I don’t want to fade to black or censor unless the plot starts to drag. Everyone should be over 18 regardless of romance preferences. I’m looking for plot discussion. I have a few things mapped out for each of them, but a lot of it depends on how our characters behave in certain situations. Feel free to share your ideas and give criticism, but also be open to new ideas and criticisms. Please, don’t take feedback as a personal attack. As the sole mod, I reserve the right to end an RP if it gets out of hand. --- Into the Fire (Medieval Fantasy) Our characters have lost their home due to a dragon attack and have taken it upon themselves to avenge their village, unwittingly taking part in an ancient prophecy much greater than themselves. They will discover their true selves and the powers hidden within them. I have ideas for each character, if you're interested.
I’m sure you know the archetype of the Chosen Three and the three elements/symbols/powers they each represent. Depending on your favorite, we could go Water/Earth/Air, Dark/Gray/Light, Death/Humanity/Birth, etc. All of them basically imply a necromancer/summoner, an alchemist/mage and a paladin/fighter. They’re all the same species (humans, but they will be encountering others and becoming more than just humans) and I’m personally leaning towards taking the darker end of the spectrum unless you can convince me otherwise. They end up discovering or being taught their abilities on their journey. In this world, you have a predisposition to magic and whether or not you make anything of it depends on if it’s awakened. In some cultures, there’s a whole ceremony to awaken magic and in others, where it’s less common, there simply isn’t anything. These guys I’m thinking are also going to be relatively young, but they’ll grow up as the story progresses. I’m thinking the estimated RP time will be at least three or so years with plenty of time skips that we can discuss. Winona (20) She lost her mother to childbirth and her father from illness when she was twelve. Her grandmother, who was there since she was born, and her uncle, who came after her father died, raised her. She maintained the bakery with her grandmother and her uncle continued his trade as a woodcarver and carpenter. She was never much of a feminine girl and took to wearing her father’s clothing when she went to the neighboring villages- she sold more as a boy than she ever did as a homely girl. She lost her home and her grandmother to the dragon attack.
--- Across the States (Slice of Life) It’s Spring Break and our characters are friends that decide to take a trip across the states from New York to California. The idea is to avoid the typical problems characters in these situations face (ex. Running out of gas and having to cope with a creepy mechanic). Maybe they accidentally eat some poisonous berries, run into a nudist colony, tip some cows, trade with Amish folks, adopt a dog, stumble into a Native american Reservation or things of that nature while stopping at some landmarks and national parks.
They’re all 18 - 25 years old, just to clarify. College age and a little older. I'm going to play one of four possible options, but I'm showing all of them so you have an idea of what I'm looking for. Walker Pritchett (21) He was a troubled teen; Got into a fair bit of mischief in school, struggled academically, countless detentions, an alarming number of suspensions from fights and all the like. It wasn’t until Sophomore year that he started to turn around and learn to start loving himself. By the time he graduated high school, he was a completely different dude. Kind of a hippy, actually. All love and peace and helping humanity. Smoked the same amount of weed, though. Right out of high school, he joined the Peace Corps and spent three years putting together community programs for troubled teens in South Africa. He’s since returned with little idea of what to do next, so he opted to use some of his saved up money for a trip. Victor Parker (22) Bookish and sociable, Victor is warm and always welcoming of others, who in turn regard him in high esteem. He’s had it pretty easy being the eldest of four and never wanting for anything. At the end of middle school, his gymnastics career was put to an abrupt end from a persistent ankle injury, so he took up photography. One thing quickly led to another and now he’s going to graduate from school with his degree in film studies. Unfortunately, inspiration has been running low with the lack of struggle in his life. He’ll looking to make some memories and explore the world a bit before he goes off to film school next year. Pia Jakobsen (21) Pia’s parents are a young Danish couple that immigrated to America shortly after the birth of their first daughter. They quickly became enamoured with American comics, technology and all things “nerdy”. That love was passed down to Pia and her younger siblings. They went in cosplay for Halloween and every birthday party was a game night. Their holidays were conventions. All of her weird hobbies and even weirder accent made her something of an outcast when she was young. In high school, that all changed after puberty, losing her accent and a couple of pounds. She became more approachable, but she was still very set in her ways. After high school, she started her career in art online with her own webcomic. After a couple years of modest success, she took her portfolio to a publishing company and got hired working in a team of artists. She still keeps up her online presence, but now she's using all her saved up vacation time for a mini sabbatical. Taylor Stevenson (19) Taylor was one of those typical popular girls in high school. The smart, pretty one that wasn't overly intimidating with all her accomplishments, but did enough not to just be her boyfriend's arm candy. Head cheerleader, homecoming queen and so on. But then her boyfriend came out of the closet. On homecoming, no less. It explained a lot of things and justified others, but it didn’t hurt any less. She gave up on love for the rest of the year and buried herself in studies, but college started and everything changed. Taylor realized quickly that she didn’t know who she was without a reputation or a boy-toy to keep her company. So, she's been getting ambitious and challenging herself explore new and strange things without the all the peer pressure.
--- Dusk Riders (Supernatural Western) Our band of misfits first meet each other when they’re trapped in the basement of a vampire’s inn. They didn’t know the innkeeper was a vampire- and maybe some of them still don’t know what the hell he is exactly, but one thing is certain: They’re not going to stick around for dinner.
As it turns out, the whole town has been afflicted with this blood-thirst and the three barely escape with their hides. Outside of town, they run into a tribe of Native American who are hell bent on setting the city of blood-suckers ablaze for all the grief they've given them, but with little means of doing it alone. Our characters make it their job end the rivalry by any means possible. That’s my first plot point. After that, it’ll be a kind of episodic adventure for our band of misfit heroes. If you have a better idea or something to add to this, feel free to say something. These characters will be a little older. Say, 24 - 30 years old. They’ll all start out as humans and I’ll say that I was planning on having the attitude towards supernatural creatures fairly negative. So, if you think you want you character to get bitten, you might want to think again. My character: Casper Dent (27) His past is a bit of a mystery to others since he tends to duck those kinds of personal questions, but there’s no doubt that he knows a lot about the kind of monsters that are out there. But all in all, he’s a pretty amiable guy. If you’re not out to kill him, he might just consider you a friend.
