That's because we've only just started. I do admit that it was very head-on and sudden, but I already mentioned that I was aware of that in my disclaimer post. I think part of the problem is that my post didn't meet your expectations as to what it would be like, and speaking of which, in terms of my expectations, I'm not asking for anything more than: "Giovanni escapes the fire, like everyone else. Giovanni is perplexed by this mystery, like everyone else." Of course with a little more extrapolation. As said, the point of the intro was to introduce the overall world and get the seven together. The politics will arrive shortly. Don't be so tough on yourself, meaning worrying that what you have isn't 'enough'. Again, all you mentioned is all I really need. I don't need something to blow me (or others) away. The point where you worry more about the opinions of others on your writing is what will cause some difficulty in immersing yourself. If anything, this will grow you as a writer, at the worst. At the best, you find some inspiration and make a great post. Here's some ideas to consider: - What is the situation like for Giovanni? Is the smoke stinging him? What does he think of this? Is he worried that his appearance will be made disheveled? - What is the sign he received (it can be anything)? What sensations did the fire bring him in the ceremony? - What does he think of the Occult ceremony? Of the Occult in general? Of the priestess? Of her cryptic message? - What is Giovanni's reaction to this odd case of arson? What is he doing to get out? Does he care for the others? Is he worried? Agitated? Something else? - What does he think of the others in the fire? Does he know them already (this may require conversing OOC to the other players)? What about the stranger who left? What does Giovanni suppose about this character? Does he think he is Vilicus? - What does he plan to do after this? Does he have any specific thoughts? - Did he get to examine the bodies of the Lord and Lady? What happened? Is he in any way directly in the investigation? - Any general or miscellaneous tasks he has done or needs to do? In regards to his role as Court Physician? Is the ceremony in the way of this? The sudden attack? I'll leave you with a quote from the original post.
Expect to see times of battle and adventure... [It will definitely challenge] the ingenuity of the player.
I would dare say that something similar to what I just described is happening now.
