Physical Appearance: Francis’ short height and thin body makes him look like a freshman from high school. If one actually saw his face they might consider him to be a middle-schooler. His curly hair is ruffled and is never combed given that he wears a beanie all the time. His skin is pasty-white from being kept indoors as a kid. He has several burn-scars on the tip of his fingers. 

Attire: The first thing anyone will see when Francis is walking down the road is that he is completely covered up. He wears blue track pants, an overly large brown field jacket, and his hair is covered by a yellow beanie. His eyes are concealed by thick sunglasses. His hands are covered by black gloves with a golden letter “A” inscribed on their palms. He will occasionally put on small earphones. His entire wardrobe is filled with copies of this exact same outfit. 

[u][b]Personality[/b][/u]

Outward: Francis is shy and is lacking in his social-skills. He doesn’t quite understand social customs or boundaries. He generally keeps to himself and doesn’t answer questions in class unless directly asked. 

Inward: Despises having his power be restrained. However, he is terrified of hurting other people with it. The one thing he looks forward to his returning to his room that has been specially designed with gold-treated items and removing his bulky clothes.

He also craves a certain amount of attention and company with other people and especially meta-humans. He will play online video games (allows him to interact with others people) to fulfill this need. However, he also likes a certain degree of alone time where he utilizes his power to create art or conduct experiments.

Hobbies/Interests: Online video gaming through computers or a game system. He will also try to transmute stones into various materials to see what happens. Sometimes these experiments are disastrous such as when he transmuted a rock into pure elemental sodium which immediately dissolved a hole through the table and four apartment rooms. He enjoys listening to alternative rock and classical music.

Skills/Talents: Extremely good at first person shooters. He is also proficient at using computers. Has a good understanding of history and scientific pursuits because of the time he spent reading encyclopedias as a kid, and from being taught by his engineer mother and chemist father. He also learned to create gourmet Mexican food dishes with his power from his parents. He also loves the outdoors from reading adventure novels and wants to venture into the wilderness one day, despite being coddled indoors for most of his life.

Biography: Francis is part of one of the few individuals from a meta-human family line with similar powers. He can trace his lineage back to the French alchemist-philosopher Peter Abelard who discovered that he could transmute materials by the touch of his finger. 

They had the capability of transmuting the elemental composition of any material through the touch of their hands. Through practice they could perfectly convert a material into the exact shape and composition of another. Some would turn their arts to metal crafting and became master blade/armor smiths. Some would become prominent chefs capable of creating gourmet meals out of stone and air. Others would specialize their abilities for their respective professions. This made them extremely valuable to their respective societies and over time the Abelard family prospered. 

However, Francis was an anomaly among his kind. While his relatives could only transfigure objects through the touch of their hands, Francis however could transmute anything in a four meter radius to his body. 

The first hint of this was when he transmuted his bed into solid glass as a ten year old child. His parents became apparent that something really was different when one night as a child when he accidentally transmuted his entire bedroom into water while sleeping. This nearly caused his death as the family lived on the sixth floor of an apartment in New York.

Since then his parents made him wear clothes that had gold dust woven into the fabric to inhibit his abilities and prevent an accidental discharge. As he grew alterations to his clothes were made to make them larger. The outfit remained the same: a large brown field jacket, blue track pants, yellow beanie, and black sunglasses all containing gold dust. Like all members of his family he wears their trademark black gloves inscribed with the Abelard insignia.
 
However, because of his unique circumstances his parents decided to homeschool him. As a kid he suffered from solitude. To deal with the isolation he turned to books and the arts. He became an avid reader of history and scientific pursuits. Physics, chemistry, mathematics, and the history of humanity astonished and inspired him. Eventually he would move on to drawing, sculpting, and painting his ideas. This became one of the few joys of his lonely childhood.

His unique capabilities spread among the network of Abelard families. Word of him reached certain ears and when he became 17 he received an invitation by mail to join Academy 218. His parents were overjoyed as this was the first time an Abelard would attend the prestigious school. They also secretly hoped that their son would meet friends there under the supervision of the Academy.

Francis however, was nervous. He grew up to be shy because of his solitary upbringing, and was aware that he would be regularly interacting with fellow meta-humans at the Academy. With bags packed he arrived at the island and awaited his future.

Power Class: Elemental-5

Power: Matter Transmutation. Francis has the power to transform the elemental composition of materials in a five meter radius around him. He can turn iron into gold. Mercury into water. Hydrogen gas into oxygen. While a material is being changed it will glow white. It takes ten seconds for any given material to be altered. Francis can also mentally move anything he has transmuted in a five meter sphere around him.

Limitations: To change the elemental composition of a material he must fulfill two conditions. Francis must have a clear memory of the elemental material and it must have been within five meters of him at some point in the past. For example, to turn stone into soda he must have been in proximity to the soda and have a clear visual memory of it.

Gold inhibits his ability to transmute matter. The gold dust in his clothes, gloves, and sunglasses prevent him from accidentally harming those around him. Once he takes off his gloves he can transfigure materials by touch. If he isn't wearing his specially designed clothes he can alter any material in a five meter radius around him. This radius seems have grown by a meter since he was ten.

Furthermore cannot transmute gold and close proximity (one meter) to a sizeable amount of it (about the size of a can) will immediately stop his ability.

He is only capable of transmuting elements into certain structures after studying the desired item. The more complicated the structure the more study is required. To transmute something into a wedding cake, he would need to have studied it intensely for days.

He is also unable to create cells and by extension create living organisms such as plants or animals because of how complex they are. His family tradition dictates that this attempt must never be made. (Something happened in their history) He can however turn cells into less complicated materials such as pure marble or water.
