I'm interested in this, I have ideas and questions. 1. Limit Uchiha & Senju to 1-3 people per clan, thus adding permanent death. 2. Political intrigue will give the plot flavour, but I suggest going in an alternate history as in, what if Obito never died, etc, etc. 3. Limit bloodlines to 1-2 people, limit Rinnegan to 1, thus adding permanent death. 4. Allow Custom weapons, jutsu, etc. Questions: 1. My main character is a Shakuton (Scorch Release) character who specializes in Kenjutsu and in Taijutsu, he is deadly to approach close-up, your best bet is Ninjitsu, providing he doesn't melt your leg off, would he be allowed? He has two custom items and I have a list of custom Shakuton techniques. 2. Could I play an antagonist 3. I have three ultra countering jutsu which are to keep people in check; they are Gekirinken,(counter against all physical attacks, there is no counter to this B-A rank) Mental Gekirinken (Counter against all Genjutsu techniques) and Forbidden Gekirinken (Counter against all Ninjutsu) I am ok with NOT having Forbidden Gekirinken, but I respectfully request Mental & Normal Gekirinken.
To your questions: Scorch release is fine, though I would obviously need to look over the techniques. At some point you could certainly play an antagonist :) In the immediate moment I don't know what kind of antagonist we're going to have though, and I'd like to make sure everyone is in it for the long haul before I give anyone antagonist duties, so to speak. I hope that's not unreasonable of me. Ultra countering jutsu? See, here's the problem with that, if anyone has something that has no counter itself, then the jutsu/weapon/kekkei genkai/hiden is OP, end of story. There has to be a way to resist, disrupt, overpower, or otherwise deal with any given ability or whathaveyou. So you can have two powerful techniques that defend you, or improve resistance to physical or mental techniques, but they cannot be the "be all end all," or even vaguely immune to all loopholes or whathaveyou. Especially not if they're in the same character that has shakuton, kenjutsu, and taijutsu. It'd simply be unbalanced and unfair. Also, how do these Gekirinken work exactly because I can guarantee you that if you can't even figure out a logical way to counter physical and/or mental techniques that the jutsu itself would be impossible. The only way you could really counter all of those would be if you had a physical barrier that was very difficult to pierce, a barrier that was sound proof and filtered out yin chakra and didn't allow certain materials to diffuse through it. The Forbidden Gekirinken could work by having a barrier/filter that dispersed chakra over its surface or disrupted the jutsu as it tried to pass through, turning it back into base chakra and rendering it useless. However, all of these things would need to have weaknesses, and a depending on how much they can counter/block they would need a high(ish) chakra cost. Not only that, but i'd say the character would need to be a specialist in that area (barriers or the like) rather then also being extremely effective in close range combat. It's a balancing thing. it all depends on how you'd want to have things really.
Uchiha. If you are going to replace a clan then replace them all. Don't be spiteful and replace just one clan cause you don't like it and ruin the fun for anyone that does. Don't give me an lip about Uchihas ruining rps because that would be the rpers themselves and the people that allow that to happen.
Hmmm, keep reading and you'll see my response to the Uchiha question/issue and such things.
In a perfect world I'd ban Rinnegan entirely, Sharingan beyond its first few levels, Senjutsu I don't think anyone lower than jounin should be capable really using it ever. The Uchihas just without their OPSharingan would be fine I suppose, whereas the Senju's I'd keep around, but not nearly as important, like they'd only have Yamanaka or Inuzuka level influence by the time of Chunin Exam Arc. Perhaps as a compromise the Senjus and Uchihas are around but without their game breaking high-level jutsus they aren't nearly as important. Bijuu should be around but should be treated like WMDs. Making a Jinchuriki intentionally is akin to the Manhattan Project almost, and needs someone of Kage level skill to even ATTEMPT to pull off. Perhaps make the One through Four Tail capable of capture but difficult. Whereas Five through Nine are insanely difficult and the human cost to capture it is exorbitent. Remember the loose Nine-Tails crippled Konoha, with the Fourth Hokage, Sarutobi, Root, Kakashi, All the ANBU and Jounin in town along with the Toads and other summons. It's the equivalent of the North Korean Navy trying to capture a US Navy Carrier Group. You can try, but even with a positive outcome, was it really worth the cost? That's not even including the human element to keeping a Jinchuriki, it seems that most villages either treat them as a pariah, or a weapon, rather than a person. You really want a walking nuclear explosion that has an axe to grind against you specifically?
Well, I think we will be starting a bit before the warring clans era, so the Senju and Uchiha would still be relatively young, they'd not even know some of their higher level stuff I'd say. In regards to Uchiha, this is what I think I/we should do: No Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan however, when/if you unlock Mangekyou you have some choices. You can continue to use your normal sharingan (for its analysis and the like) and only "switch on" mangekyou when you want to use higher level abilities. Amaterasu will be unable to be put out with water or oxygen deprivation, but it can be absorbed as a chakra, or filtered out/sealed in advanced seals/barriers. It will move slowly though, thus giving people the chance to dodge something that would otherwise almost certainly kill them. As to other abilities of the mangekyou, I would allow people to create custom ones, and while things like the Susanoo would have limitations as per usual (and would not have things like Itachi's mirror or the like). So manifesting it is not instantaneous, it can be broken with difficulty, and having it on limits your speed unless you're a super muscular bastard. Uchiha will have normal chakra capacity as well and Amaterasu and Susanoo will eat up their chakra fast as all hell, even if they have the highest chakra control around. The same limitations on Amaterasu, except for the speed due to its differing method of creation, will apply to scorch release (which must be learned by having studied, or been taught by, an Uchiha [that just plain makes sense since scorch release is more or less a slightly more limited Amaterasu]). Oh yeah, and sharingan will not allow perfect replication/prediction of people's techniques ever. Replication of people's techniques can certainly happen, but depending on the skill of the Uchiha it will take them less or more training to properly copy someone's technique(s). Prediction will work, but only 2 steps ahead with normal sharingan and 4 with mangekyou unless you have a unique ability of your own construction for that. Keep in mind that eventually, with overuse of Mangekyou, your Uchiha will go blind and lose their sharingan's abilities overall as well as...you know, their sight and anything that comes with it. The amount of Uchiha PCs would be maybe 4 I think. As to the Rinnegan, well, hehe, I have some plans for that. However, at base I'd say that it should be limited to a max of two people. Having the rinnegan would not instantly give you all of the affinities and you'd need to learn each of its paths. You would be allowed to make your own paths, but again they'd need to be balanced. Also, I think that if it's not a problem there would be two types of Rinnegan. Rinnegan which gives you the paths, and rinnegan which allows powerful sensory abilities and Onmyouton(yin-yang release) chakra. Trust me, those two differentiations are equally powerful, I'd know. I agree totally in regards to the jinchuuriki, you can't start with one, and capturing one is a huge pain in the ass, a pain which gets progressively worse depending on the beast's amount of tails. Oh yeah, and senjutsu could be learned at around chuunin rank, but it'd be rudimentary at best. You'd only really get it if you want to be a full on sage of sorts. Otherwise any senjutsu talents/abilities you have would be grosslyp limited due to your lack of skill/training and dedication to that area. Sages will be around the same level as, you know, other people their respective rank. Yes, being one gives you certain advantages, but so does being specialized in anything. Hope that settles that.
Well I guess now the question is.... what's the next step? Make Character Sheets? If so, what's the launching premise we are settled on?
Well, if people agree with what I just stated about the clans thing, then this is where we stand. Uchiha, senjutsu, Jinchuuriki, and the Senju will be limited as seen above. We'll start a bit before the warring clans era. (Do the clan meeting thing?) The world will be Alternate Universe(AU) excluding certain key elements such as the existence of a few canon clans and the Rikudo Sennin. We'll likely start as jounin at first and expand from there. We're not doing a stat system, or at least not requiring one. Unless enough people vote for it and keep in mind that I won't be restrictive with it. I've worked with them thrice in Bleach, and they weren't restrictive beyond working as a useful reference/baseline to compare physical abilities/skills and stamina/energy pool. That'd more or less be how it'd work in here.
Yosh, I know me and you are basically on another level of interest regarding Naruto RP (as shown from my interests in Naruto RP's vs. yours) but what about an RP where we all take part in 1 clan, waaaay before villages even existed. The first village would be founded and we (the clan) would be invited to join it and play part in it's creation and shit?
This could be interesting, we'll see what everyone thinks though. It might be easier to start out like this. Hell, maybe we're the first clan and we expand out, people splitting off and making the clans as we know them (and more). Also, hi there :P
This is the best thing I've read on the forum- ever. - - - I typically don't pop in on Naruto/Bleach/FT/Etc RPs because, well, to be quite frank, people suck. In fact, I only came in here to see how dumb this would be. Now that Naruto ended I was expecting some silly post-manga story line, most likely with the new generation of kids. That being said, I absolutely love where this is going! I've always loved the 'idea' of the manga (the world, the power system, etc), but hated the main characters (and about 50% of the story line to be honest)- which is why this RP looks like it is going to be perfect. Or, err, ideal. - - - - Short story made shorter: I am super interested in this.
Hehe, believe it or not, Naruto RPs used to be pretty damned awesome. Back when we had a pretty good community, but it fell apart a bit before Guildfall, and the fall only made things worse ^^; I'm trying to reconstruct that and everyone is helping :D I'm quite flattered that you like my idea of working together to make something amazing, and I'm sure everyone else will be glad to have you~ EDIT: By the way I have work in about an hour and won't be available for 4 and a half hours once I'm at work. Also, by the end of the warring clans era I don't know which clans will survive. So if any given clan doesn't exist by the end of things, that's just how it played out ^^;
