The term 'Sun' is the name attributed to the star at the center of our own star system; the word 'solar' is Latin for 'Sun'. Solar (or Sol) is the exclusive name for humanity's *planetary system.*Apparently, the proper designation for a body of planets that orbit a star is a , while a small collective of stars that orbit one another is referred to as a 'star system'.So yeah, every planetary or star system can't be a solar system. If this were true, Keyguyperson would have a LOT of explaining to do.
Oh, I can make a plot arc like that if you want. "And because humans are so damn special and awesome, their home system is also every other system ever. Because humans." But seriously though. Star System is the correct term. Solar System could be used though, as Earth means dirt, Earth's moon is literally called "The Moon", and the Sun is called "The Sun", so a species might end up naming star systems after their home system, with a translation device picking it up as Solar System. However, the definition of solar system is "The collection of eight planets and their moons in orbit around the sun, together with smaller bodies in the form of asteroids, meteoroids, and comets.", so Star System is the correct term.
