A new age of technology and wonder has spread across the world of Kervan. No more does the farmer snap the reins of a horse, but honks the horn of rumbling truck as he takes his produce to the market. Aircraft of all kinds now fill the sky and massive machines sit in the factories of the great industrial nations, producing seemingly anything you could imagine. New materials and their uses are being discovered, further advancing the industrial machine of the world. However, while some relentessly push forward, mining and building their way to the future, others look at this new found progress with fear and disgust. How could so many throw away their nature for the sake of progress? Similarly are the progressive ideals that have come with this new age. Some nations hold up the ideas of representation, fair government, progressive social norms of acceptance while others intensely believe in preserving their monarchy or dictatorship. These times of great advancement have always been tests to see what nations survive and thrive, and who will be left behind, buried in the sands of time. What say you, great leader, what shall your nation become? --- Right then! Welcome of "The Dawn of Tomorrow's World". This is a nation roleplay that, as you may have guessed, is focused primarily on a fantasy like setting with technology similar to that of the early 1940s, but with a lot more "what ifs" present! You see, this is a world building, character interacting based nation roleplay, meaning that things like particular numbers, production costs, resource numbers, aren't the main focus, but stay a more vague fog of a general agreement. No, this is about having lots of fun creating this amazing world of airships, mobile fortresses, and crazy industrial cities. Players will have a lot of freedom in terms of how they build their nation. With this freedom, however, I want to trust that when you join, you will be more than happy to collaborate and be on the LOSING side as well as the winning side. Maybe your giant flying fortress was taken out by a small elite team of heroes, saving the land you were invading! Who knows! Its all up to how you guys want to play it out. For some specific limitations, see the rules and the nation sheet. --- Rules -The GM has the ultimate final word for anything. Period. While I am happy to hear what you have to say, when I say "No" it means "No", end of discussion. This also means holding your opinion on the matter until the GM gives the final word.- - Long pointless debates and arguments over ultimately trivial things seem to be a bit of a plague here after I looked through some of your long dead Steampunk/dieselpunk NRPs. So if it cant be settled in a few posts, take it to PMs. We are not here to argue who made the first assault rifle, or when the first whatever the fuck was made.- -ABSOLUTELY NO POWERGAMING/GODMODDING! The leaders of your nation do not have acess to the thread! Thus any secret messages or other discussions cannot be heard unless the circumstances call for it, i.e the players already talked about a spy being present or whatever.- -Grammar and spelling must be readable.Posts should not be one sentence. I want to see some good paragraphs. Of course if there's not much to post, that's fine, post it anyway- -STAY ACTIVE! PLEASE! If your are thinking of joining the NRP, keep in mind I require that you post at least once every two days. I get things can get hectic in life, but want to see this be fairly active and not die four posts into the IC. Let us know if you are going on some sort of extended absence and try to tie up any loose ends so you don't leave other players hanging.- -The Great War Machines! Now war is always fun to have in NRPs, and I am going to be very liberal on big nations possessing some massive war machine. However, the few restrictions I will apply is that you can't just whip it out on every battle and they will be generally be slow moving. Other than that, go nuts! Just understand they are not really there to win your nation a war, but to add to the world and have a Goliath for David to face.- -On that note, technology in general! I will say that we shall limit it generally to something of the early 1940s, AKA, no jets at all, wider diversity of armored vehicles and aircraft, ect. Flying wings and such will be allowed and to be honest, I will just play it by ear.- -Have fun! No really, I'm being half serious here. This is a fantasy/adventure based NRP with notable characters, places, and wars alike! Don't get to caught up in realism and just sit back and let things slide by. We are all here to have a good time, so simply shrug and move on from it.- -Put "I read that mess, can we start already!?" at the bottom of your NS to confirm you have read the rules- --- Maps (Regular map subjected to change, check back often for updates) Regular Map of the world of Kervan: Biome Map: --- Nation Library "The Great Nations of Kervan" --- The Nation Sheet (Flag, cause all y'all love some flag.) Nation's Name Nation's History Race (Can be whatever you want within reasonable constraints. Try not to get to crazy or unbalanced) Form of Government Current Leader(s) Notable Figures Total Population (No china blobs please. I may allow one, but in general, try to keep it under 160 million roughly) Nation's Location: Nation's Geography: (See the Biome map to get a general sense of what your nation is like. Feel free to build onto that by adding notable forests or mountains and such to better enhance the setting of your nation. The Biome map is just something to help you along) Economy: (What does your nation like to import/export? Remember, your nation can't just home grow all the things it needs. Also its a good excuse for war! :D) (Oh! And I am also allowing fantasy materials, like Float Stone or whatever to allow big machines or flying contraptions. Have fun with it, be creative!) Technology Overview (Does your nation favor progress over tradition? And if so, what fields is your nation focusing on? This is just a fun bit where you can describe whatever unique focus your nation has in terms of technology. Also, if you decide to make some sort of traditionalist nation that remains further behind others, that's great! Don't worry about being smited off the face of the planet right off the bat. Remember, we are here to have fun with a creative nation building roleplay, so we can play it out in more ways than just realistic scenario.)
