I'm a bit confused with the latest update. Is the airfield under Yakima control? I said it was in the outcome of my post (and assumed its occupation happened "off-screen" because writing a post about the occupation itself would be boring). If so, are we still supposed to hold it? I'm not sure how happy Hathaway would be if he were ordered to completely abandon the airfield after having lost so much to take it. Not to mention it'd be unwise to leave it undefended. So, is it okay if we assume that (for my next post) Hathaway is leaving a good chunk of his force behind to defend it?Another thing - Goldendale was taken in my first post. I don't think I specified it in the outcome, but I've pretty much been assuming that Hathaway left a few dudes there to defend it. Probably not much - maybe two dozen lightly armed guys. So.. I'll assume I can pretend there are some guys there and maybe make a post about them holding off an assault.Either way, this is going to be awkward. This is actually kinda troubling ;P I've been playing Hathaway as a guy who would do his best not to harm NCR soldiers, and ideally I'd want him to avoid getting pinned against them. But obviously he's not in control of that. His own men are against fighting NCR troops, too. This is going to make him pull his hair out. Good for story though. I just have to figure out how to have him worm his way out of this one.
The whole "but I love my former countrymen" tune really struck a sympathetic rhythm with me, so naturally I created a situation where Hathaway is either force to yield the bridge to the NCR, or engage them. There is no right or wrong outcome in any situation, within this RP. Again, the whole "I lost my boys taking this darn-tooting airfield" struck a similar note. Hathaway now has an option to become disillusioned with President Clearwater's cavalry-charging mentality, whereby he seems prepared to chuck clumps of his soldiers at any crisis, without thinking twice. Perhaps Hathaway says "screw this, I'm not pitting my boys against that!", or "why don't I just take New Dalles anyways, and flank around the NCR? Maybe that'll scare 'em off" I'll make the point here and now, that people do not need to follow their orders to the word, or at all, really. There will be IC repercussions for certain behaviour, or for totally going against the President's wishes, but I'm not going to boot anyone out of the RP for getting creative with the given subject-matter. And yes, that's fine for Goldendale. I purposely left details of the village's state to one's imagination, to give you guys maximum creative freedom. @Darcs, your mission will begin mid-battle, in case it wasn't clear. You've cut the NCR's attack in half, with some of them (100) to the north of you, heading towards Goldendale, and the rest to the south, preparing to surge through you. (600) Again, you do have the option to say "fuck this!", especially if Hathaway makes a likewise decision.
LordZell, am I correct in my interpretation of your post that the 1st Republic Hunters Battalion has fled from Sunnyside Municipal Airport? It was my understanding that there was a large stockpile of supplies in the airport that the 7th Freedom Brigade intended to use to retake Sunnyside. Do they now have access to that stockpile?
Shhhh don't tell him what he's done wrong, I was going to make it a surprise.
