Name: Ishikawa Hinako Race: Human (Mage) Age: 23 Appearance: Tall One Personality: In her belief that being a proper detective requires maintaining a calm, collected composure at all times, Hinako strives to act serious and maintain control of her emotions. This is something that she is terrible at doing, easily cracking under pressure and letting her not-exactly-thickskinned emotions show. Despite having an immense weakness for cute things and cute girls, she's remarkably resolute in not even so much as hinting at flirting, though if nobody familiar is around she'll tend to purchase anything sufficiently adorable, which really doesn't help the detective agency's funds. Rather than a hard-boiled detective, it would be better to say she's half-boiled. Skills/Abilities: Hinako has an ability set more suited for a vigilante than a detective--basic martial arts knowledge backed up with an array of self-enhancement magic and some simplistic healing spells. It might be enough to consider getting involved in exploring monster dens, but why would she want to do that? The spells see more use in carrying shopping than actual fighting, frustratingly. However, when it comes to manual detective work, it's Hinako that proves to be the better of the pair: she actually understands such vital concepts as 'asking people questions' and trailing others. Equipment: Brief Backstory: Ever since they were children, Hinako and Rin have been close: their parents were friends, and they grew up knowing each other. When they got to school, they were constantly being placed in the same class, and generally performing equitably on tests, until Rin picked up the basics of her magical abilities and Hanako got distracted reading detective novels. The result was one of them dropping to about average and the other becoming top of the class despite apparently not paying any attention to lessons. When they graduated, it was the taller girl who suggested that they start a detective agency: she'd been saving up everything she could from doing as many part-time jobs as possible since people would actually let her, and her parents were willing to cover the difference. The result was that the two girls started up their own detective agency... and have just barely been managing to stay afloat by taking all sorts of random and minor jobs, not helped by their two-room agency being overly full due to Hinako's stuffed toy obsession and Rin's game one. ---- Name: Yamaguchi Rin Race: Human (Mage) Age: 23 Appearance: Short One Personality: Far from an ideal detective, Rin is more concerned with whatever latest game has attracted her attention, or some topic that has managed to catch her attention. This makes her less than eager to go out and actually do detective work, thus leaving almost all of the legwork to Hinako. Like her partner, she really likes cute things, but acts more on people than items... and tends to feel guilty afterwards. Wearing her heart on her sleeve probably isn't a good idea for her career, but she's more likely to be at home than going out. Skills/Abilities: Rin's magical abilities gave her an undue advantage for school exams: it's pretty hard to fail when you're able to increase your ability to read and process information a hundredfold, even if you are particularly lazy about studying. Combined with a general assortment of indexing and searching spells, she's basically a walking library even if she can't remember the particular information immediately. Her more impressive ability is psychometric spells: it's always useful to learn stuff about an item's past, even if there's no physical clues. Equipment: None Brief Backstory: See above!
