Here's a preview of some of the stuff I'm devving up. I'm also thinking about making a ground-side RP set in the same universe. If you guys prefer that, we can do that.
"The stars are not ours for the taking, they are yours as well. Let's share them in peace." -The Bental’Si Paratum The Bental’Si are a rare species to have reached the stars. While most star-faring races have obvious bodies and limbs, the Bental’Si are a form of xeno-moss. Sort of like moss. Their families stay close together and thus becomes a singular ‘person’, claiming a skeleton of some sort, or a bundle of sticks to form a skeleton. Now, more modern skeletons for the Bental’Si are primarily metallic. The Bental’Si are a very tolerant and open minded people, through sheer luck, or perhaps some secret, they have reached the stars largely unopposed. Like the Alliance, they prefer Diplomacy before shooting. Their ships often reflect this, as they don’t have weapons powerful enough to destroy another ship in space-combat. However, their armor and shield technology is far more advanced than the Alliance. The Bental’Si believe that their God, the Omtal’Sa, before their time fought a great evil. Through eons of war, they won. Seeing that their war had devastated the universe, the Omtal’Sa sacrificed itself to become the Core of The Universe, which the war had destroyed, to bring back balance. They believe that the Omtal’Sa, at the center of all, is the driving force behind the most basic of natural laws, and without a being at the center, these laws would halt and chaos would reign. The Bental’Si prepare for the return of the great evil by uplifting more primitive civilizations, and raising them like a parents. However, they are not mentally prepared for the war to come, and lack self confidence in themselves as fighters. First contact with the Bental’Si was made by the ANS Australia. The original mission of The Australia was to observe a pre-FTL species. However when they arrived, they saw the Bental’Si making first contact, prompting The Australia to step in incase the Bental’Si were hostile. Turns out, they weren't, and each faction present had just made a double-first-contact, the first and only one in history.
