Casper told the teacher he would just stay for a few minutes to review his notes. It was his first day to have remedial classes, which happened after all his classes are done. There were no other students, and the teacher assigned to the room didn't know him very much. It was just good luck, since most of the teachers in Northlane High knew him well for his bad performance and violation record. This guy was probably new. If it was anyone else, they would never trust him enough to leave him alone in a classroom. When the teacher left, he smirked and started grabbing from his backpack. He took out a pack of cigarettes, and a lighter. Yeah right, notes. Heh. Casper lit up his cigarette and took a puff. He remembered the first time he had one of these, when he was sixteen; it made him feel a little more happy. Now, it only relaxed him a bit, or possibly he just thinks it does. It didn't have its usual effect like before. But he still stuck to it like a good old friend. After a couple more sticks, he tried to push the window open, but it barely budged. He groaned and tossed the cigarette on the tiles. It wasn't like anyone would know it was his, anyway. After walking away from the window, he shivered when he realized how cold it was. Fortunately, he had his black hoodie with him so he pulled it on. It was still cold, but it was all he could do for now. When he thought he was alone in the school at this time, Casper fired up another cigarette. He headed out of the classroom and into the hallway. It was already deserted, but the lights were still on. He loitered around for a while, since he had nothing to do at home anyway. When he passed near the gym, he heard voices. Two of them, a boy and a girl. They sounded familiar, but he couldn't care enough to recognize them. Instead, he hanged out in the halls while exhaling streams of smoke wherever he went.
