What little he does say usually consist of impudent, wisecracking remarks. Currently he has no aim in life, when he was younger he trained with his brothers at the castle but now he has nothing to occupy his time. His current goal is to see England, due to the tales his English mother told him about the country. Like his parents John lacks spirituality, just as his father taught him not to trust magic, the Burghs trust little that they have not seen with their own two eyes(other than the christian god assuming that exists in this universe). John is slightly detached from others, what time he didn't spend training he often spent either lost in thought or wandering the grounds.

John Burgh is the youngest son of the prolific earl of Ulster. Richard Burgh. Due to Ulster's strategic significance as both the closest part of Ireland to the rest of the British Isles and as a very defensible position John was taught from an early age the arts of war. John's childhood was largely unremarkable as he learned alongside his three elder brothers the teachings of their father. Richard was one of the few kings who had no magician or witch in his court, trusting only in the strength and of his troops and fortifications to defend his fife from those who would wish to seize control of it. Richard came down with an illness in recent months and is believed to be at death's door. With an increasingly turbulent court surrounding his three brothers John decided to take his rightful share of their father's fortune and leave the fife. Wandering the British Isles, doing whatever he happens to fancy at any particular time. Alfric didn't even bother to turn to face his younger brother before John walked away from the group towards where the dogs were. Even when he was long out of earshot of his brothers John didn't bother to curse his brothers, Alfric was to be king, he would always be ordering everyone around, it was his right. Upon arriving at the hound's "den", as the four brothers often called it, John immediately knew what the problem was, the servant had gotten lazy and forgotten to bring the dogs their meal. Grumbling to himself John slowly began to make the trip to the kitchens. "The son of an Earl feeding the hounds, what an unusual day." Little did John know that this day would be one of the few normal days he had left, and that shortly England would call to him, and John would leave his childhood home, perhaps forever.
