I remember that power shade! 

One of my favorite character was Mata's in Catalysts (I wasn't in Catalysts, but the same character was in the first incarnation of The Freaks). She had the power to bring inanimate objects to life, but she had no control over what she made so she turned a sandbox into a monster with a giant mouth at one point and it tried to eat her.
