While living in the ocean no longer, the Dekran are thought to have evolved from sea dwelling creatures into the bipeds they are today, their leathery rubber-like skin a lasting indicator of their ancestry. Female Dekran carry their young till infancy within a womb, and much like the mammals of Earth, they nurse their young from a sticky sap-like substance excreted from the pores on their hands. The male Dekran are large the female gender of the species, standing usually about a half meter taller, with the average male standing at about 2.5 meters tall. Males also tend to have much broader shoulders, making thin shoulders an identifier of the female gender. Government: The Dekran people have relied upon a global modernized feudal system for for the last two millennia, with regime change being the only variable. The planet is ruled by a Sovereign Leader, referred to as the Keldun in the Dekranian tongue. The Keldun relies on a high council to assist in dealing with issues both foreign and domestic. The current ruler of the Sovereignty of Dekran is Teylan Nor, who has been ruling for the last 120 sidereal periods of Edyr (Ederian years equivalent to 1.69 Earth years). Regional political rule is to “Lords” of varying power and influence known as Kehnars. These Kehnars rule over lands as designated by the Keldun, ranging from plots of land on the home planet to the moons and planets of conquered systems. These lands provide a percentage of their resources and income to the Sovereignty as a whole. The levies that the Sovereignty also relies on for its military might aslo come primarily from each Kehnar's own army. Every two Ederian years the nobles of the Sovereignty submit a simple “yes or no” vote regarding the possible changes to Ederian policy. The Keldun is not bound by law to follow the popular vote of his Lords, however more often than not it does provide a basis for his future decisions. Culture: A very prideful race, Ederian’s live their entire lives bound to a code of honor known as Rak’ teyr or more simply the Rak . Men and women are treated as equals under the laws of the Sovereignty, and unified by their belief in the Rak. The Rak dictates that all men and women must lives of duty and honor, treating each other as equal members of society, and comrades within the Sovereignty. Every member of Dekranian the society receives of sort of “baptism by fire” upon reaching adulthood. Finding themselves cast into the wilderness, young Dekranian men and women must return home with something of value to contribute to their household. From an animal’s hide to valuable ores, to rare flowers Dekranian youth return home with vary levels of success, but never with failure. The concept of organized religion is foreign to the Dekranians, as their ancestors never sought to explain nature or their place in Universe. Dekranian philosophy can be summed up in the words of the ancient philosopher Keldun, Krek Tho, “We exist therefore we shall remain”. The universe, life, and everything else that goes along with the two, happened at random, and because it happened, the individual is alive, and the individual will live till death. This is the only truth, this is universal. It is a simply way of living, but it has freed generations of Dekran society to focus on moving forward and achieving as much as possible in their long, but mortal lives.

Description: As with historical feudal systems on Earth, the Sovereignty relies on levies for the bulk of its military, with paid landowning “knights” making up a profession combat force. The forces are lead by assorted noble lords who are appointed as commanders by The Keldun himself. Ederian Levies: These men and women of the Sovereignty bring to the fight their own collection weapons, bionics and armor, resulting in a largely non-uniform force. I'll happily add more as/if my time in the RP continued. I tend to add things as time goes on with an RP.
