I agree that there is a lack of variety and I daresay originality. I would definitively like to see more unique nations and a smaller focus on trade. Hell, some nations aren't even in prime spots for trade, and yet somehow are still focused on it. Those are just my two cents, though.

EDIT: Not to say any nation is particularly bad - just that there could be more to make nations interesting and unique.
