Laura finished the details of the party just in time for dinner and sat once more in the balcony, overlooking the glorious sunset. Rosalia, her maid, had set out Laura's meal and was on her way out. The young heiress motioned for her to come to her side before she left. "Rosalia, there's a stack of boxes piled one on top of the other next to the bedroom door. I did closet cleaning yesterday, and those are all things I don't use. Some of them have only been used once. So, please, do me the favor of giving them to someone who needs them. I'm pretty sure Jimena, Graciela, Elena and all for their friends will enjoy them as much as I did. "_Ay! Muchas gracias, Senorita Fontana!_" Rosalia replied, tears starting to stream from her eyes. Even Nathan smiled warmly at Laura's gesture. Laura hugged the woman. "You guys deserve all of this and more. I'll never be able to thank you all enough for everything. Nathan, could you do me the favor to take the boxes to Rosalia's car?" she asked her bodyguard, letting go of the tearful maid, who left the room sobbing in gratefulness. "Of course." Nathan nodded, looking at his boss. "You are an amazing woman, Miss Fontana. I-" he stopped, a blush starting to creep onto his handsome face. "I wish I could find a woman like yourself someday." Leaving that last sentence hanging in the air, Nathan left to help Rosalia with the boxes. Laura pondered Nathan's strange actions between bites of filet mignon in mushroom sauce with matched potatoes and sips of Chateau Margaux red wine. Had her bodyguard meant what she thought he had? It was certainly interesting to think that Nathan, the strong, brave, loyal Nathan, had developed feelings for someone as flawed as her. Laura smiled at the thought of giving the man a chance. Without warning, Laura's thoughts were interrupted by a claw-like hand pulling her out of the chair by the hair. She was shocked to see Lurieth, her blue eyes with dilatated pupils, her breath quick and heavy. She had never seen her mother act this way before, and it scared her to paralysis. "It was _you_!" Lurieth exclaimed in a shrill voice, pulling Laura's golden locks harder. "_You_ were the one who ruined my life! My life was going just _perfect_: I had _everything_ I always wanted, but then I got pregnant with _you_! I _never_ loved you! Your father changed his will as soon as he found out about your existence, and left me with _nothing! NOTHING! YOU TOOK EVERYTHING AWAY FROM MEEEEEEEE!!!_ Laura's perfect mouth opened in a throat-ripping scream when her mother, face transformed into an unrecognizable mask of rage, tackled her down and began to stab her with the steak knife. Laura wasn't even sure when she had taken it from the table. She watched Lurieth's face and chest cover in her own blood, but her mother didn't stop stabbing her until Nathan pulled the older woman off Laura with a taser. It was too late, though. There were too many wounds and too much blood had been lost. Each stab had been fatal. "Lurieth... You materialistic _bitch_..." Laura was silenced by Nathan, handsome face twisted in grief, pressing his lips against hers. It would be the most beautiful memory branded on her failing conscience. Laura managed to offer Nathan a smile before her last breath left her beautiful, ravaged body. She had officially become The Ice Queen.
